Blackberry Bold vs. iPhone
So, my husband got an iPhone circa 2008 and I thought it was the most RIDICULOUS purchase ever. However, now that everyone, including my mother, has one, I’m starting to reconsider its coolness factor. The only thing I’m concerned about is the emailing capabilities and the touch keypad on the iPhone, which, I’m told, I will get used to, but the thing is that I really do use my blackberry for daily business emailing.
I’m going to get a new phone within the next two weeks and I’m torn between these two phones. Remember, this phone will be used a lot for business.
What phone will be best for my needs?

How much emailing? I use my iPhone for business and love it. I will say, however, that the typing is never quite as easy as it was on my blackberry. However, I will say that all of the tradeoffs are WELL worth it. I mainly use the email function to read emails, delete them and sometimes write short replies… Being a first time mom, I can’t tell you how handy my Iphone has been! All of those weeks being stuck sitting with her, I stayed connected to family & friends. I have read many books on the free Kindle app and have no less than 10 lists going at all times. Also everytime she would cough or cry I could look it up online! Now that I’m back to work, I use many of the apps to help me stay organized…love the Grocery iq app. We show the baby short videos when she’s fussy in the car, etc etc… Anyway, my husband bought me the iPhone in 2008 and I didn’t want it and hated it at first–but only for about a week. Now i can’t imagine my life without it!
I am going to say go with the blackberry for business. I had a blackberry and used it primarily for email/phone capabilities. I got the iphone when it came out because it looked cool, and it totally was, if you are going to use your phone for the apps, and for internet searching/surfing. But if email is what you are looking for, then the blackberry is far better suited to business than the iphone.
iPhone all the way-for business and pleasure… You get used to the typing and it starts to learn and predict your slang or common words used. I have at least 3 weather apps, music and handy tools like converstions and such.
iPhone all the way… For two reasons… Reason a: emailing. I know everyone loves email on the blackberry and all that, but I use gmail, and it is so.much.better on the iPhone. Example: in blackberry I’d reply and then get an inbox message of what i just sent. Annoyingmuch.
Reason 2: the apps. Get it for the grocery iq app that @Jen above and I love. Greatest thing ever.
And you’re already on AT&T… So just go for it
Oh, and the kindle app … Biscuits and gravy that app is good. Free and in my opinion better than an actual kindle/nook. Ok, that’s all.
@Jen: That’s a VERY good point on the emailing. Now that I think about it, I never send long elaborate emails from my phone…it’s always short and sweet!
@Elyse: Thank you so much for helping me…I’m still a little torn…do you know if the iPhone can handle multiple Microsoft Exchange email accounts…I know for sure the blackberry can…?

iPhone without question. I was a die-hard BB user for business and hated the iPhone keyboard, but got used to it very quickly. Also? It seems to LEARN how you type. I know?! So it actually adjusts to how you press the keys so the more you use it the easier it is to type and the less typos you end up with. (Ok, you also learn, but still — cool.) And really, the functionality of the iPhone over the BB is hands-down better. Downside is the battery, which does, indeed, suck.
Oh, and I have my work email, gmail and yahoo email connected to it. I believe it can handle multiple exchange accounts as well, but not totally sure.
@sarah only one “exchange” account at a time, but you could hook up multiple email accounts that use Exchange. You can just synch contact/calendar with 1 server.

i sync both my gmail and yahoo mail onto my iphone with no problems whatsoever..it’s THROUGH exchange (which i don’t totally understand but whatevs)
