The Cookbooks That Keep Those Last 10lbs On Me

I was blessed with a husband that LOVES to cook.  Which works out perfectly for me because I really only ENJOY doing party food….you know Guac, Appetizers, Texas Caviar, any Desserts…  Our cookbook collection varies quite a bit because he loves to cook all sorts of stuff and I like to cook pretty specific stuff.  These are our go-to cookbooks:

  1. La Pinata, Junior League of McAllen, TX–I know this cookbook seems kinda far fetched to order and stuff but it was handed down through my family.  It’s got a ton of good recipes–The Never Fail Biscuits OMG are so good I could make myself sick, King Ranch Casserole, Chicken Tetrazzini, and the list goes on…
  2. The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cookbook (Paula Deen), Amazon–You can’t go wrong with the Gooey Butter Cakes and my husband likes The Lady’s Chicken Noodle Soup
  3. Finger Food, Amazon–The perfect party cookbook! The pizza pinwheels on the cover are GOOD and there are a ton more things in here that are perfect hor d’oerves.
  4. Sangrias & Pitcher Drinks, Amazon–I’ve used the Strawberry Basil Lemonade recipe for partys/showers and it’s a HIT.
  5. Mexican Everyday (Rick Bayless), Amazon–My husband made the Pork Tinga and it was UHmazing…and I love love love the Guacamole 2 Ways–could sit and eat that with chips for dinner.
  6. CrockPot, Amazon–There is a Chipolte Chicken recipe in here that has been on our weekly lineup for a LONG TIME.  It’s yummy!
  7. The Pioneer Woman Cooks, Amazon–EVERYTHING
  8. Mexico The Beautiful Cookbook, Amazon–Mexico City Enchiladas and the Avocado Salad Dressing are TO DIE FOR!

  1. thanks for the suggestions…these are great!

  2. @Tina no problem! Hope you find something yummy!

  3. Fantastic! I am with you: I tend to enjoy apps and desserts while my boyfriend does the main dishes. But I am trying to expand my horizons and it’s daunting looking at those rows and rows of cookbooks. Thanks for the suggestions to narrow down 🙂

  4. @Christen We snagged the good guys huh?! Glad I could help!

  5. I had to laugh – we’ve broken the binding on “Mexican Everyday.” Definitely part of our last few pounds. I’d also have to add “The Food Network Kitchens Cookbook.” They have this broccoli hash that I could eat by the potful (cheese, pine nuts) and the best tortilla soup EVER.

  6. @Amanda Mexican Everyday is quickly becoming one of our favs for sure. My husband got it for Christmas and as I was flipping through it, I literally could eat everything in it. I’m definitely going to have to check out The Food Network Kitchen’s Cookbook. Thanks for the recommendation!!
