I have done every silly and seemingly ridonkulous baby prediction technique available to me and I’ve had some mixed results. So, here I am.. polling Tipsy readers! I find out the sex of my baby this week people. Any last minute guesses after seeing my vast spectrum of LEGIT evidence here? I will update this post on Thursday with the real deal for those of you who are interested in actual medical findings as opposed to the following compelling information.
- Chinese Lunar Calendar– That’s one vote pink!
- Based on Heartrate – It’s been beating above 140 each time we have seen and heard it, so that’s another vote for team pink!
- Rumor has it if you are carrying low, its a boy. I seem to have a low hanging belly, so that’s a vote for blue!
- Ring on a String– I tied my wedding ring to a string and watched it twirl furiously in a circle… indicating a girl!
- Just Mommies Quiz – It said I have a 67% chance of a girl. Hmmm…
- My Intuition- Boy, and no idea why I say boy. But I do. Maybe because my husband has about 50 bagillion boys on his side and I think his DNA is the determining factor here.
UPDATE: IT’S A BOY!!!!
(And he wasn’t shy about flashing his jalapeño, so we are 100% sure!)

I have a friend who is a wildlife expert. He works with wolves. Anyhoo, he told me that male sperm swim slower than female sperm. So….if you conceived VERY close to AFTER you ovulated or exactly when you ovulated, it’s more likely a girl. If you had sex JUST PRIOR to ovulation, it’s more likely a boy? Make sense?
That being said…I have a boy and now I want everyone to have a boy, so I say BLUE! LOL!
@Tina.. my mother in law told me she heard the exact same thing, but that requires a lot of calculating that my brain isn’t equipped to handle:)
Go with your intuition above all others. It will usually be right. The Chinese Lunar Calendar, heart rate, and carrying low would have all been wrong when I was pregnant with my son. In my gut I just knew I was going to have a boy, and I did.

Each one of the above was a girl for me and we had a (beautiful, perfect) boy.

Chinese Lunar Calendar was 50/50 for my bebes. My gut was right both times. Go with your gut!!
(Also, I carried low both times. I think that is more a result of body type (i.e. my long torso) than anything else. Woohoo for babies!
@whoorl I am also an the proud owner of the longest torso ever, so maybe that has to do with a) NO tops (not even a lot of maternity wear) being long enough for my bulging belly and b) the “carrying low” phenomenon.
I’d say your gut (intuition, not, like your ACTUAL GUT) is the best indicator. Can’t wait to hear the results! Yay Tipsy Babies! Wait, that sounded sketchy…
