The thing about pregnancy is…

Luckily, I’ve had a fairly uneventful pregnancy, but I’ve been tracking the random/weird things that I think happen to most women. With a little more than a week until d-day, I thought I’d share those randoms that I’ve been noticing and see if anyone else has anything to add!

  • I am ALWAYS hungry (specifically within the past month)…and my foods of choice are skittles and/or Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha.
  • I find myself crying a LOT. (I’m not a crier.) I cry watching the news, reading birth stories, and anytime my hubby basically breathes in my direction.
  • Soooo many random people feel like you’re they’re BFF and find it appropriate to ask you inappropriate questions.
  • On the flip side, a LOT of people are OVERLY nice to you.
  • It feels like you’ve just ran a marathon after getting dressed everyday.
  • I commend you ladies that are preggers in the summer…it’s been record lows here in Texas and that was JUST about the perfect temp…I almost had a heat stroke on Sunday when it was in the high 60’s…how you dealt with 90+ is beyond me…
  • There’s still a chance you feel good and cute up until about the 8.5 month…after that, I think it’s just down hill…why oh why can’t pregnancies stop at 36 weeks…these last 4 weeks are a KILLER!
  • I am sooooo excited to meet this little one, it almost seems like time is starting to stand still!!!!!

To all you preggos…hang in there! 🙂

My Maternity Essentials

I have a couple of items that I couldn’t live without during this pregnancy and I thought I’d share them…as 2 out of the 3 are actually non-maternity pieces that I had before.  And just FYI I’m in the middle of my 6th month of pregnancy.

  1. Seamless Tank Top, Kate Boggiano-I had a few of these from pre-pregnancy days and they are still working for me now.  They are long and don’t roll up.  AND they make all your tops smoother so that the line that your maternity pants leave isn’t quite as noticeable.
  2. Maternity Tank Top, Kate Boggiano-I bought one of these this pregnancy, in black, and it works just as well as the regular tank but obviously has a bit more fabric so things aren’t quite so stretched.  I figure this will come in handy at like 8 and 9 months.
  3. Cotton Spandex Jersey Yoga Pant, American Apparel-I bought two pairs of these back when I had just had my first born and wore the heck out of them in those first few months.  You can roll the waistband down or wear it up.  Right now I’m wearing it up…it’s almost like a full panel maternity pant in that way.  And the length might work well for those of you that are tall…I’m 5’4 and they are pretty long on me.  These are a mainstay when I’m at home, I probably wouldn’t wear these out of the house unless by wearing them out of the house you mean walking to get the mail…then yes I do wear them out of the house.

Maternity 2.0

I wish people would tell you that you will essentially have 2 maternity wardrobes, and I’m currently on 2.0. I guess this may not be true for everyone, but I will tell you that I woke up one morning and over half of my maternity wear had turned to crop tops! This may be because I have a really long torso and it may also be because I am carrying this baby ALL out front…either way, I had an excuse to pick up these cute duds!

  1. Target, Maternity V-Neck Ruched Side Fashion Top
  2. Target, Maternity Long-Sleeve V-Neck Knit Top
  3. Gap, Ruffle henley placket
  4. Old Navy, Maternity ruffle-trim jersey tunic
  5. Gap, Cowlneck blouson top
  6. A Pea in the Pod, 3/4 sleeve rib-knit maternity sweater
  7. Gap, Textured single-button cardigan

Preventing Marks

Stretch marks that is. I am growing by the day, and although I have been using a stretch mark prevention cream, I’m curious if there’s anything out that that I HAVE to use….

What did you use when you were preggers, and, did it work?

  1. Bella B Tummy Honey Butter
  2. Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention Cream (This is what I have been using.)
  3. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Cream
  4. Clinique CX Stretch Mark Cream
  5. Mederma Cream Stretch Mark Therapy

Ta Ta For Now!

The time has come; it’s baby time! Well, not exactly, but I gots shit to do and we are zoning in on the final babyless days. So I am passing off my Tipsy torch to a very trusted, equally weiner dog loving and budget shopping gal I’ve mentioned several times before… my little sister, Melis. She is sure to keep you informed of any babies that are born over here, as well as many other hot topics.

I’ll miss you all on my baby blog vacation and when I return I’ll promise not to bombard you with too many photos of  my little man!

Later, gators!

Bag Lady

I am a certifiable bag lady…give me a great deal on a great bag and I’ll go for it EVERY time. So, not surprisingly, the item I was MOST excited about purchasing after becoming preggo was my diaper bag! I ended up falling in love with the Timi & Leslie brand…here are few of my faves:

  1. Baby Jane
  2. Charlie: This is the bag I actually purchased…I got it in the Teal color and I will tell you, it’s the stuff dreams are made of! 🙂
  3. Hannah
  4. Marilyn

Baby on Board

Well, get ready, because another Tipsy bambino is on the way! I am 14 weeks preggo and couldn’t feel better…except the first experience of NOT being able to button my jeans yesterday…our little one is due to make his or her appearance on March 8! (Oh yeah, and we’re leaning towards not finding out the sex of the baby, but I’ll keep you posted if we change our minds…)

I patiently waited to buy baby stuff until I was officially out of my first trimester, but this past weekend my Mom, Sis, and I went a little baby crazy and here are some of the goods we picked up:

  1. Sophie the Giraffe Teether (Affectionately dubbed “George” by another Tipsy bambino.)
  2. Praying Mantis Organic Onesie
  3. Duck Wooden Push Toy
  4. Gund Snuffles Bear (This is the exact same bear my sister drug around, and lost, throughout her childhood so she’s keeping the spirit alive with her niece or nephew.)
  5. Mod About Baby Swaddle Blankets

For the Fall Bumps

While I will be glad to say goodbye to maternity wear and pregnancy in the near future (HELLO pants with real buttons and zippers!), I have to say that being preggers in the fall must have it’s perks.

One: I’m positive you will be much less sweaty

Two: These cute cool weather pieces

InVESTED

I have always been a clotheshorse. I love to bargain shop and love reinventing my old clothes with new pieces, etc. Being pregnant has thrown a wrench in that habit somewhat, but honestly it just makes me more creative.. looking for pieces that will allow for a baby bump. These flowy vests are EVERYWHERE. I haven’t yet purchased one of these, but I see some room for a bulging baby between that flowiness… don’t you?

  1. Charlotte Russe, Open Stitch Sweater Vest
  2. Old Navy, Womens Draped Front Vest
  3. Forever21, Striped Cardigan Vest
  4. Alloy, Cascade Racerback Vest
  5. Walmart, Draped Vest
