Tipsy Favs: Quick Meals

As with anybody, we like to share new meal ideas with each other.  What’s even better is if the meal is QUICK if you know what I’m sayin’.  So, when we have no time or we are just lazy these are our go-to meals we can fall back on.

  1. Der-Spaghetti-This means so many different things to people. Meat sauce, meatballs, chunky sauce, what type of pasta? I am married to an Italian spaghetti loving man and I am a pretty big pasta fan as well, so it works out well. For us it means angel hair pasta and sauce sans meat. While no sauce will ever compare to his family recipe in his book (and I have to agree its pretty fab) I buy jar sauce and jazz it up. The only jar sauce that he loves is Great Value brand at Wal-mart….. weird, but true story.
  2. AK-Nachos-I could eat Mexican every single day of the week.  My husband is the cook around our house, so when he doesn’t feel like cooking anything too elaborate or I’m on my own for dinner this is generally our go-to meal.  Chips, Ground Beef (w/Taco Seasoning), Grated Cheese…DONE! If we have avocados on hand we’ll whip up some guac.
  3. Sarah-Pork Loin- Sounds like it could be complicated, but it’s not. Our go to grocery store down here, H-E-B, sells small, pre-marinated, pork loins that are the bomb. All you have to do is take them out of the package, throw them on a pan, and in 30 min. dinner is ready! I always pair it with some steamed veggies…a fast and healthy meal for any night of the week!
  4. Court-Turkey dogs-So quick and also comes with cool sides like frito pies which my son loves. I generally do turkey chili and cheese on mine.

What’s your go-to meal?

Tipsy Favs: Snack Bars

Snack bars are a great way to keep the hunger at bay when you’re running errands, or just sitting on the couch for that matter! Here are our go to hunger busters:

  1. Der: Nature Valley Chewy Granola, These yogurt bars are about the only snack bar I have ever liked. The funny thing is that I’m not a yogurt fan or a granola fan, but these little suckers are addicting!
  2. AK: Luna Minis, I had a nutritionist recommend these to me when I was preggers because they are a good balance of carb and protein for a snack plus they are high in folic acid and I’ve stuck with them ever since. My absolute fav is the Nutz Over Chocolate.
  3. Sarah: Nature Valley Yogurt Bars, My hubby turned me onto these and ever since he did, I cannot get enough of them! I’m not a huge sweet person, so these are typically my desert-type indulgence…soooooo good!
  4. Court: FiberOne Chewy Bars, ABSOLUTE FAV. Love the taste and act as a meal on the six small a day plan.  I tried to snack myself thin at one point but I think I ended up just downing 5 of these an hour 🙂

Hump Day Happy Hour Meets Tipsy Favs

Everybody has their GO-TO drink right? Well we thought we’d share with yall what ours is.  This is our first choice drink, the drink if they discontinued off the face of the other we would all be totally bummed.

  1. Sarah-Bud Light-Any day, place, or time, if I’m given a choice, I’ll always go for an ice cold Bud Light…in a bottle please!
  2. Der-Michelob Ultra-Mic Ulty is my favorite of all time and the second this baby pops out.. there better be an ice cold one waiting on me!
  3. AK-Margarita-Just give me a regular old frozen margarita and I’m happy! No salt!
  4. Court-Zilch Margarita-Love love this stuff. Tastes justtttt like a Marg with no cals. They go down real easy so watch it!

What is your GO-TO drink?

Tipsy Favs: Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for _________! It’s the PERFECT summer snack…here’s our faves, what’s yours?

  1. Sarah: Blue Bell Cookies and Cream, This has been my all time favorite since I was little. I don’t eat a ton of ice cream (and my ass thanks me for that), but if I ever have a craving, you can bet that I’m headed straight for Blue Bell Cookies and Cream!!!! (And yes, it has to be Blue Bell…)
  2. AK: Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, When it comes to ice cream I’m very plain jane.  I’m a huge fan of Der’s pick but if I’m buying ice cream at the grocery store or somewhere not McDonald’s then I’m definitely going with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla.  And like Sarah said, yes it has to be Blue Bell.
  3. Court: TCBY White Chocolate Mousse, TCBY’s White Chocolate Mousse.  Easy on the cals, awesome ass flavor.  I always, always add sprinkles to mine.  I don’t really keep ice cream in the house, and there is a probably a reason for that 🙂
  4. Der: McDonalds Vanilla Cone, There will never ever be an ice cream that will beat McDonald’s ice cream cones in my book. I used this as my weight loss crutch back in the day.. it’s low cal and mighty delish!

Tipsy Favs: Cereal

Cereal! It’s what’s for breakfast! ha! After doing our little Tipsy fav roundup, it seems us Tipsy gals are either Special K peeps or Kashi peeps.  What do you eat for breakfast?

  1. AK-Special K Protein Plus-I am definitely the kind of person that could eat the same thing everyday for breakfast.  I got a recommendation for this cereal by a nutritionist because it has a good balance of carbs and protein and I’ve been stuck on it ever since!
  2. Court-Kashi Organic Promise Strawberry Fields-This is my absolute FAV.  I love almost all Kashi brands, they really help you get your fiber on.  The only thing about this one, its kind of hard to find.  Costco is generally good to us when it comes to this brand though.
  3. Sarah-Kashi Organic Promise Autumn Wheat-I just started eating this a few months ago and man I’m hooked! Not only is it super-healthy for you, but it also has just a slight sweetness that is perfect to start your day.
  4. Der-Special K Cinnamon Pecan-Special K Cinnamon Pecan is by far the best cereal I have ever eaten in my entire life. Let me also let you know that I don’t eat cereal with milk. I don’t drink milk or even like it in my cereal. So, for me cereal is more of a snack food than a breakfast food. Anywho, this is like a drug to me and I go through at least one box per week. Good thing it’s low cal or I’d be in big trouble.

Tipsy Favs: Laundry Detergent

Laundry Detergent, we all use it, we all need it, and most of us love it (at least the smell that is)!

Here are our picks for the most fab detergent in the grocery store:

  1. Court: Seventh Generation 2x Laundry Detergent, I like this detergent first because its at Costco and you can walk around and try all the samples of food:).  Second would be because its actually unscented (I know gals can you believe), but means its not harsh on my skin and doesn’t leave any weird residue feeling.
  2. AK: Tide Free and Gentle, I, like Sarah, used to be a Tide Original kinda gal…love the smell of that… But when my kiddo came into the picture with sensitive skin, we switched to Tide Free & Gentle.  We still use Bounce dryer sheets without any problems and I love love love that scent.  I’ve been known to put a Bounce dryer sheet under the seat in my car because I love the smell THAT much!
  3. Sarah: Original Tide (he), I use original Tide for High Efficiency machines for the simple fact that my Mom always used Tide (and b/c I have one of those fancy high efficiency washers that makes me)…This is nothing fancy, but seems to keep my colors vibrant and it doesn’t have an overpowering smell.
  4. Der: Gain Original Scent, Laundry detergent or clean laundry is my very favorite smell on this planet. But, my favorite by far amongst the greats is Gain Original Scent all the way baby. If they sold this in perfume, I’d bathe myself in a huge vat of it. Gain is wising up and has made several products like Febreeze Gain scent (omglove).

Tipsy Favs: Chips

Our mission today is to make you hungry.  Today’s topic is CHIPS! Here are our favs, what are yours?

  1. Der-These are an addiction for me, so good thing they are baked.
  2. Sarah-Honestly, you can sign me up for any and every chip out there; however, I have been known to take down an entire bag of these bad boys in one sitting!
  3. Courtney-Same taste as regular Pringles in my opinion, 70 calories for 14 chips and NO FAT. Love em!
  4. AK-Normally I’d be with Sarah on this one with the Jalapeno chips, but I tried these within the last few months and I can’t get enough of them.  This has become a problem.

Tipsy Favs: Body Wash

I like to think of myself as a body wash connoisseur. I see a new and interesting scent and sure enough it’s hopped it’s little self right into my shopping cart. So, here are the Tipsy favs for washin those bodies:

  1. Court- Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel: My fav, and this is a shocker, is bath and body works Japanese cherry blossom.  Love the smell and it tends to linger just enough, but its light enough that it doesn’t stay on your skin after your bath (or shower for those of you who take them).
  2. AK- Caress Daily Silk Body Wash with White Peach and Silk Blossom: I’ve used this for years, I love the subtle fragrance and that it leaves the skin moisturized and soft.
  3. Sarah- St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter: This body wash is moisturizing, smells fresh, and both my husband and I use it. What’s even better is that you can pick it up at your local drug OR grocery store!
  4. Der- Zest Marathon: I tried this on a whim because the bottle was silver and shiny, but when I opened the cap, man o man was I sold.  This smell is so clean, almost like laundry detergent, and I’m a sucker for laundry detergent smell.

Tipsy Favs: Mascara

Time for a another weigh in.  Mascara.  This is something I hold near and dear to my heart.  Or something I accidentally poke my eye with and ensure the worst.pain.known.to.a.woman.

Here we go….

Sarah:  SpectacuLash® Mascara (Black) I like this mascara because it gives me the long, thick, eyelashes I want, without ever being too clumpy.

Der:  Loreal Voluminous Mascara This is one of the only makeup products that I repeatedly buy. I like plump, black lashes and this is the best drug store mascara that I have found for that affect. Also, the makeup artist that I hired on my wedding day…. showed up with this mascara in her bag of tricks, so it must be good 🙂

AK:  Maybelline Lash Stilleto It’s not goopy and clumpy and it separates my lashes perfectly!  And it actually comes off as opposed to sticking to your lashes for days on end.

Court:  Loreal Telescopic Definition Lengthening I’ve tried almost every new mascara that comes out and I always end up sticking to this.  I love the comb like brush, even though you better learn to use it and learn to use it fast.  Lets just say combing through caked on lashes doesn’t end up with the neatest look.  However, don’t let that scare you gals, once you get the hang of it this mascara never fails to provide clean, defined, long lashes that really pop.

Tipsy Favs: Jeans

Tipsy gals are here again to weigh in on our fav jeans.  Here’s our picks and our comments as to why they hug in all the right places.

  1. Sarah: Seven for All Mankind Bootcut Stretch Jeans: I like these jeans because they’re a) long enough to wear with boots or heels for my 5′ 11″ frame, b) curvy enough to fit my booty well,  and c) expensive enough that I have to cherish the one pair I own! 🙂
  2. Der:  Levis 537s Description Der found that she say is perfect: The Levi’s 537 Flare Jean is a classic Levi’s style. The soft heavy feel of the denim and five pocket styling are the perfect combination. The 537 is built to withstand all of the wear and tear that you can dish. Der’s description 🙂 : I feel like they hug all the right places and look great dressed up or down. BUT, I have the HARDEST time locating them. I had to buy my last pair off ebay because I couldn’t find ANY stores that sell them. BIG BUMMER. In fact, the only pic I could find is on ebay so if your a lucky size 8…snatch these UP!
  3. AK:  Joes Jean’s are my fav “going out” jeans somehow these jeans make my butt and thighs look a little smaller than they really are.  Maybe its the pocket placement or the seam placement but they are definitely worth the price to make things in the mirror smaller than they appear.  Levi 515s are my fav “knock around” jeans.  I’ve had a pair of these for a good 10-12 years and they are my go-to slouch-o-rama, weekend jeans.  They’re like butta.
  4. Court:  Old Navy Sweetheart These jeans hold up in harsh washing conditions, keep their color and don’t loose their boot cut leg which helps to balance out my curvy figure.

Ladies all shapes, sizes, and budgets–let us know what your favs are.
