iPhone Apps: Netflix

So I don’t know if you all heard but they finally came out with a Netflix app for the iPhone.  They came out with an iPad app before the iPhone and my husband was super perturbed about that.  But NOW, now we have one for the iPhone!  Basically how it works is anything that is in your instant queue is available to you on your iPhone when you log into the app.  Which means when you need a distraction you have a full season of Blue’s Clues at your fingertips!  The one with Steve, not Joe.  We like Steve much better.

iPhone Apps: TeuxDeux

Remember when I posted about TeuxDeux as a web application that can keep you sane? Well they FINALLY came out with an iPhone App and it SYNCS with what you already have listed on your computer.  It’s the BOMB! Check it out!

iPhone Apps: Monkey Preschool Lunchbox

Monkey Preschool Lunchbox is toddler crack! After playing it a couple of times as we wait at a doctor’s office, my son has been running around saying “mama, monkey? monkey?” Go check it out, it’s been a huge hit at our house!

iPhone Apps: Talking Carl

So this app does nothing but cause silliness.  I’m warning you now.  I’m pretty sure my husband got this app for our son but I know WE ended up playing with it a lot more than our son did.  So here’s the gist…you talk to Carl and Carl repeats back what you say to him in a funky voice.  Very simple. I can’t tell you how wide eyed my son was listening to Carl repeat back what he would say to the iPhone.  It was hysterical!

iPhone Apps: Twitter for iPhone vs Echofon

So back when the Tipsy crew started tweeting in 2007 we were all using Twitter via text.  Now that the iPhone has come into most of our lives (still trying to convert Court) we have all these Twitter apps available that make our tweeting lives so much easier!

Personally I have been using Twitter for iPhone (aka Tweetie) since I got my iPhone but still kept text alerts for the Tipsy peeps on so that I would be able to respond faster… Then I started looking into Echofon which has push notifications, but it costs $4.99.  Also the push notifications happen instantly when the other person is using Echofon, but within 15 minutes if they aren’t using Echofon.

So my question is…do any of you use these apps? Which do you prefer? Is there something better out there? Tell me!

iPhone Apps: ShakeItPhoto, Chipotle, & Look Baby!

I’ve got a variety of apps to show you today that I recently got and have been loving.

First up: ShakeItPhoto. Turn one of your existing camera pics into a Polaroid or take a polaroid pic with ShakeItPhoto. What’s fun is that you shake your phone to “develop” the pic. (BTW you’re welcome–I resisted making a “shake it like a polaroid” joke)

Next, Look Baby! This app makes my kid very happy and giggle a TON. There are 4 different settings but the two in use the most around here are the Teddy Bear who giggles when you touch his belly and the Bubbles that pop when you catch them. A great distraction!

And lastly, if you are a fan of Chipotle you will love their app. Last weekend I was getting my nails done, texted my hubby and asked if he wanted me to bring home Chipotle for lunch. He suggested the app and I had it ordered, paid for and scheduled for pickup in no time.

iPhone Apps: Livestrong

The other day I was looking for some sort of calorie tracker app because my trainer was asking me to provide him with a food diary of my week.  Because I’m lazy and all and don’t want to write all that crap out with a pen/paper I thought it would be easy to use my handy dandy iPhone.  I hit the jackpot with the Livestrong app.  I entered my basic height/weight info and it guided me towards what my daily calories should be.  Upon entering the food I ate throughout the day I found that it had almost everything I ate in its little search engine including the specific HEB cheese slices I put in my pita sandwich at lunch.  On the days I workout I can enter in my activity for calories burned.  After my week of food diary-ing was up, I logged into my Livestrong account online and could print out my food diary and hand it over to my trainer.  Upon review he told me he could see a few problems right off the bat…hmmm wonder if it was those chewy Sweetarts from last Sunday.  Damn you leftover Easter candy!  I’m definitely going to make some adjustments and keep going with the app, it’s sort of addicting!

As a side note, when searching for exercise activities, while it does have a plethora of activities to choose from “Running after 18 month old child” was not an option.

iPhone Apps: Where’s Waldo

So my last iPhone app post was about games for the wee ones and today I’m gonna show you a game that is probably supposed to BE for the wee ones but I seem to like it just fine.

Do you guys remember the books Where’s Waldo where you find the little dude in the striped shirt in the midst of a ton of other distracting things?  I sure do, I believe I had a Where’s Waldo t-shirt that I worked out in, when I was 22 12. I honestly don’t think I’m alone because I in fact just saw a Where’s Waldo book in the waiting room of my NON pediatric dentist’s office just last week.  So there.

Well now they have a Where’s Waldo iPhone app.  I find it quite addicting and to me its always nice to have something to do if I’m waiting somewhere and I don’t have anything to read and I just really want to zone out…It’s a mindless yet satisfying little app.

iPhone Apps: Peekaboo Barn

Do you have a little tyke that runs everywhere at full speed on tip toes eyes wild jabbering the entire time arms stretched out looking to break anything remotely breakable within arms length distance who when you put him in the car for oh say maybe an hour long drive he begins to wail unconsollably at the 40 minute mark?  Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Just me? Come on…somebody?  Anyway, if any of you even remotely have a full speed ahead toddler like I do, man oh man do I have the iPhone app for you!

I would like to introduce you to Peekaboo Barn ladies and gents!  Peekaboo Barn is the bomb at keeping my kiddo’s attention.  It shows a barn door jiggling, they touch the screen and the doors to the barn open revealing an animal and then a little kid saying the name of the animal.  See below for demonstration:

As a side note, that’s my husband saying GOAT, my voice isn’t that deep.
