We Take This Shit Serious

Ok so there is a long standing tradition with a couple of the tipsy girls.

Its starts early.  I am talking 2:30 am early….It’s dark.  It’s so dark, that it’s black……None other than THE Black Friday.  Totally worth It.  HELLA GOOD TIMES AND DEALS.

Heres the line up for me and Mimi (my mom):

  • Kohls (3 am) -for Austin and others
  • Macy’s  (4:15 am)- for Mimi and Estee Lauder Holiday Gift Sets (10 of them , yes I said 10, we have a big family) – if you aren’t aware of this gift set, get on it now.  You’ll thank me later.
  • Target  (6 am)- for Ben and Aus and everyone who need electronics or awesomeness
  • Bath and Body Works (8 am) – for friends and fam and myself
  • Yankee Candles (9 am)- just for fun at this point (gotta keep that house smelling good through out the year)

So we start at about 2:30 am.  Fight all the really crazy peeps, cause you know, we are the sane ones.   Hit all these locales and we are done by about noon or so…..

Don’t hate.

Side note:  Just want to let all tipsy readers know we are celebrating a safe and happy holiday with our friends and family.  Please do the same.  Happy and Safe Holiday to all of our  readers!  See you Monday!!!!

Say Hello to My Little Friend

Anyone ever used this?  It’s my new go to product in my make-up rotation and it really makes a difference for me.  The colored stick for your brows is waxy, so I’m able to not only fill in the gaps with color but keep my unruly browns in place.  Also second end of the stick is an under brow highlighter, so just seals the deal.

I give all credit to Melis for this, I used hers that was in her makeup bag a few months ago!

The Burts and The Bees

I know that I am not the only girl out there who does not like lip gloss. Although I like the color options it gives me, I am not a fan of the stickiness of it.  I am a chapstick girl. Always have been, always will be. Enter Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer. It combines the color options and shiny look of a lip gloss with the minty taste and healing capabilities of Burt’s Bees chapstick. Without being sticky. This is one of those items that I will have with me at all times, no matter what I am doing. Peony is my current fav…

A word to the wise: I have learned from personal experience that dogs, especially those of the wiener variety, LOVE the taste of Burt’s Bees products, be it lip shimmer or chapstick. I have lost many a tube to wiener dogs in the past. And yes, they will raid your purse to get it, its that good.

5 Things I Never Leave Home Without

Last week Susan at The Working Closet did a post entitled “5 Things I Never Leave Home Without“.  These are things that no matter where she’s going she never leaves home without them.  So it got me thinking…what would that be for me?  Some of the things she had on her list were on my list but some were also different.

  1. Hobo International Lauren Wallet-I think this is probably a given for most people but no matter what I am taking this with me because it houses a lot of the items below.  Mine isn’t yellow, it’s turquoise but alas I could not find that picture to show you.
  2. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Lip Color in Slopes-I come from a long line of ladies that without a doubt never go out without lipstick on.  Even my grandma at 88 would always have her lipstick on at all times.  We seem a little crazy don’t we?  We aren’t, I promise…we only have a slight case of the crazies.  So anyway, this is my fall/winter color that I wear.  I get sorta attached to lipshades and tend to stick with one color for a long long time.
  3. My iPhone-Because I will never forget the time when I ran out of gas and didn’t have my cell phone with me and I had to ask the person in the car next to me if I could use their cell to call my husband.  Awful, on so many levels.  At this point, with an iPhone it is also a great toddler distractor as well.
  4. Patemm Pad-Because I have a toddler, I can’t ever leave home without diaper equipment.  This changing pad is the best changing pad ever and I’ve told you about it before. I love that this pad can also hold my diapers and wipes and has a handle for carrying.  The best part about this changing pad is that its round and no matter where your kiddo is flailing, the changing pad will generally guard them from the scariness that is public restrooms.  My particular style of Patemm is called the “Deke” which I don’t think they make anymore, but you can definitely find some cuteness on their site.
  5. Aquaphor Lip Balm-I can never put lipstick on without first putting a lip balm on and while I have been a devotee of the L’Occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm, it’s just too easy to pick up this Aquaphor Lip Balm at the grocery store or drug store.  It also works well in a mini manicure situation on your cuticles.

So tell me, what 5 things do you never leave home without?

Nails of Steel

Have y’all heard about the new nail color for fall? Grey or Gray whichever way you want to spell it.  I think I’m actually going to try it out.  I’m usually an OPI Bubble Bath kinda gal, though I did venture into a two week experiment with lavender this summer and I will sometimes bust out the OPI Red when I’m feeling sassy.  But I do think I want to try out this grey trend for sure, I’m just waiting on my nail place to get some greys in stock.  Have y’all tried this out?  What color have you used?

  1. Nicole by OPI, Positive Energy
  2. Essie, Chinchilly
  3. OPI, Give Me The Moon
  4. Essie, Steeling the Scene
  5. OPI, Moon Over Mumbai
  6. Essie, Playa Del Platinum
  7. OPI, Birthday Babe

Fountain of Youth

Remember when we talked about these moisturizers? I really liked the Aveeno for winter but in the summer wooo man that stuff was a bit THICK.  So I was wanting to try something else that was anti-aging and was talking to my cousin about it and she said that I needed to try this line by Oil of Olay.  That she had been using it and had told everybody in our family about it except me apparently.  I guess she wants me to look all old and wrinkly.  So I bought it and I do really like it.  The moisturizer is light and goes on great under makeup.  The eye cream and night cream, neither of which have ever been on my agenda in terms of skin care, are actually really good.  I haven’t broken out with either of them, which is generally something I worry about with moisturizer stuff.  And the fragrance is very light, nothing overpowering in the least.  Oh and also, I look 10 years younger after just 2 weeks of using these products.*

*that might be a lie

  1. Olay Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream
  2. Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Moisturizing Treatment
  3. Olay Regenerist Eye Serum

Christmas in July

Well, it might as well be Christmas because some little elves have invaded my make-up drawer and they are quite welcome to stay. E.L.F. cosmetics are under $3.00 and pretty darn amazing for that price tag. Specifically, the make-up brushes. I have several and use them daily. I just saw that my local Target is now carrying this brand and I couldn’t be merrier.

  1. Super Glossy Lip Shine
  2. Duo Eyeshadow Cream
  3. Eye Shadow Brush
  4. Brightening Eyeliner
  5. Radiance Blusher
  6. Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

The Falsies

I found a new mascara that I’m really into. It was purchased on a whim at my local drug store not expecting too much of a result, but I must say that I am smitten with it so far. I am usually a Loreal mascara girl, but Maybelline has sold me this time with The Falsies . If you like the look of larger than life lashes, this may be the product for you.

I Got Your Makeup Brush

You need a new makeup brush? I got your makeup brush! I was in need of a new powder makeup brush and ran across this line called Ecotools at my local Ulta store. I’m telling you, this is the softest brush I have ever owned.  I went out and bought a blush brush and eye shadow brush because I loved the powder one so much and I didn’t even need those other two.  In addition to them being as soft as a baby’s butt, they are also cruelty free, natural, made with recycled materials, have bamboo handles..I mean the list goes on people.  And they are definitely cheaper than the hoity toity ones I got at Nordstroms.

Mirror, Mirror

Sarah has posted on our monthly Keno games before and this was the hot item that was stolen out of many hands at our last game. I mean what girl doesn’t need a mirror in her purse that also is so funny it cracks her shit up everyday?  I mean we could all use a little humor in our lives. AMIRITE?
