Hump Day Happy Hour: Great Value Rita

I normally buy lemonade drink mix for a drink option in a pinch. So when I saw this lime margarita flavored drink mix, my mind got to wandering. And for $1.78 at Wal-Mart I figured I couldn’t go wrong.  I got it home and threw two packets in the blender with some ice and tequila. These margs are GOOD and the best part is the only calories are what is in the tequila! (I couldn’t find this kind online, but there are many other kinds here.)

What a Croc!

I could practically run a mile in my Croc wedges. Before you say ewwww, let me explain. No one ever thinks they are Crocs, I have received numerous compliments and super comfortable doesn’t even begin to describe them. I’ve had my eye on some new Croc sandals this summer season and these are bound to end up in my closet sooner or later.

Sweaty Baby

I have a very important question that I need answered and I’m calling on all you moms out there since I’m new at this. See that little guy down there?  He is uber hot natured at his ripe old age of almost 7 months. We aren’t even in the heat of the summer and the poor little guy has almost over heated several times just from riding in his carseat. I turn the AC on full blast and that still doesn’t seem to help much. Do any of you have any advice for this? Any breathable carseats you can recommend? Does this carseat cooler thing or something like it work? HALP!

Creeping

My Shiny Little Secret

I have found the holy grail of secrets to luscious, shiny hair that lasts 6- 8 weeks. It is Paul Mitchell’s PM Shines. PM Shines are developed with an  intense hydrating complex (IHC) that soaks deep into the hair shaft  to add intense hydration and help replenish amino acids lost during the coloring process. They are applied like an all over hair color and shampooed out in about 20 mins. You can choose from clear or one of 32 intermixable colors. Your hair will never have been more shiny and manageable, I promise.

Here’s the key to my secret: I head over to my local Paul Mitchell School (see other national locations here) in Houston and pay a measly $25 for a colored shine and it’s $8 for the clear one.  I mean, look at all that shine right there. It’s almost blinding, isnt it? I kid. But it is really super shiny. And though you may hesitate about a “student” working on your hair, I assure you there is seriously no way to mess this up. It’s worked in like a box color or like a shampoo… it’s in no way some sort of rocket science. So, there we have it. My cat’s out of the bag. Go forth and seek shiny, beautiful hair ladies, for cheap.

These Flops Were Made for Walking

I ran across these AUH-mazing flip flops at Target last week and I NEED to tell someone about them. And you are the winner. These are THE most comfortable things ever to go on my feet. I literally wanted to walk out of the store in them. I take a lot of walks, both for entertaining my kiddo and for exercise, and people always think I’m nuts because I walk in flip flops not real walking shoes. These are like walking flops, people. For reals.

From the Kitchen of Ella

I’ve stated before that I am a sucker for cool packaging, so when I saw these brightly colored pouches of ALL NATURAL and ORGANIC baby food on the shelves of my Tarjay I was ALL. OVER. IT. Ella’s Kitchen is co-created by an 11 year old little girl named Ella and you can read the story over here. I am all about helping an 11 year old sister out… and my AJ seems to take these down like no other, so I am sold. Here are some of our favs.

  1. Apples and Bananas
  2. Sweet Potato Pumpkin Apple and Blueberries
  3. Strawberries and Apples– AJ wasn’t a fan of strawberries overall, but mama sure did like the taste of this one!
  4. Broccoli Pears and Peas
  5. Peaches and Bananas– This is the ONLY way he will eat peaches. They are a no go otherwise.
