Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail…

Easter is right around the corner, and since this is my first “holiday” as a Mom,  can’t WAIT for my little guy to see what the Easter Bunny brought him! First stop, picking up the perfect basket. These are some cuties that I ran across on my hunt:

  1. Pottery Barn, Puffy Easter Baskets
  2. Etsy, Fabric Coil Basket
  3. Etsy, Personalized Easter Basket
  4. Etsy, Boys Bugs Easter Basket
  5. Etsy, Canvas Spring Basket
  6. Target, Felt Easter Basket: I went with a basket VERY similar  to this (Charlie’s is a robot) from Target (I can’t find them online). Super-cute, and at $2.00, super cheap!

Hair be Gone

A good friend of mine and I were chatting the other day, and she mentioned that she had been undergoing laser hair removal. She said she LOVES it, but that it was expensive and that it was a fairly painful process.

I am 100% interested in having this done. So, I want to know if anyone else has done this, and, if so, what was your experience like?

Muddling Through

So, obviously, when you have your first bambino, your life changes in ways that you CANNOT imagine. Here are a few of the things that have gotten me through the first month of motherhood:

  1. Dunkin Donuts coffee
  2. Moby Wrap: Hands down the BEST baby sling ever…it lets me comfort my baby and be completely hands free.
  3. Medela Symphony Pump: No, I did not buy one of these pricey pumps, but I did rent one and let me tell you…it saved my baby and I a LOT of tears.
  4. iPhone: I’m just not sure what women did before iPhones…

I’m Baaaccckkkk!

…and better than ever!

Well, I’m not sure about that, but there are two things that are certain:

  • I’m more tired than I’ve ever been.
  • I am 100%, without a doubt, HAPPIER than I’ve ever been!

Tipsy peeps, I’d like you to meet my little man…Charles Leland…we like to call him Charlie, and he was born on 3/3 at 3:08pm. He was a hefty 8pds 7oz and was 21in long.

Hump Day Happy Hour: Super Texan

I blogged about this winery awhile back and thought today was appropriate to revisit it. You see, this is my last blog pre-baby as I should have a bouncing bambino/bambina by tomorrow…YEAH…and this is my BIGGEST craving post baby:

Flat Creek Super Texan; A fabulous red that I compare to a great Cabernet Sauvignon.

So, I have two question for you today:

  1. What would (was) your first post baby alcoholic drink be?
  2. What do you think I’m going to have; boy or girl?

Serena and Lily

I just love almost anything and everything from this store. Here are some of my current faves:

  1. Binth Baby Book
  2. Menagerie Bookends
  3. Square Chairs
  4. Senegalese Storage Baskets

Parent of the YEAR Breakfast

I’ve been digging through my most favorite recipes from childhood and trying to perfect them before I come a mother myself. Now, most of these recipes center around breakfast because my Dad made it a point to make us a fresh, hot, breakfast 90% of the time!

This recipe is my current fave, but parents of small children beware, it’s ALL sugar! 🙂

Sugar Donuts

Ingredients

  • Cheap biscuits (I mean CHEAP…don’t buy the name brand, but the kind of biscuits that if you “baked” them like biscuits, they would turn into rocks.)
  • Sugar
  • Vegetable Oil

Directions

  1. Layout the biscuit dough and cut holes in the dough. (I use a water bottle or soda bottle lid.)
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet.
  3. Fry donuts in the oil, set aside on a paper towel to let the grease drain when cooked through.
  4. While the donuts are still hot, roll in sugar and set aside.

Enjoy! I’m serious when I say you’ll be a parent of the year with this sugary breakfast…

Spring on my Toes

The average high here in H-town has been about 80 the past few days, and I thought it was only appropriate to check out the latest in Spring nail colors. I’m LOVING on all of these!

  1. Charged up Cherry
  2. Grape Fit
  3. My Back Pocket

Ready for Baby!

I’ve been working hard on getting the nursery together and I think it’s finally done…so of course I had to share it with everyone!

The thing about pregnancy is…

Luckily, I’ve had a fairly uneventful pregnancy, but I’ve been tracking the random/weird things that I think happen to most women. With a little more than a week until d-day, I thought I’d share those randoms that I’ve been noticing and see if anyone else has anything to add!

  • I am ALWAYS hungry (specifically within the past month)…and my foods of choice are skittles and/or Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha.
  • I find myself crying a LOT. (I’m not a crier.) I cry watching the news, reading birth stories, and anytime my hubby basically breathes in my direction.
  • Soooo many random people feel like you’re they’re BFF and find it appropriate to ask you inappropriate questions.
  • On the flip side, a LOT of people are OVERLY nice to you.
  • It feels like you’ve just ran a marathon after getting dressed everyday.
  • I commend you ladies that are preggers in the summer…it’s been record lows here in Texas and that was JUST about the perfect temp…I almost had a heat stroke on Sunday when it was in the high 60’s…how you dealt with 90+ is beyond me…
  • There’s still a chance you feel good and cute up until about the 8.5 month…after that, I think it’s just down hill…why oh why can’t pregnancies stop at 36 weeks…these last 4 weeks are a KILLER!
  • I am sooooo excited to meet this little one, it almost seems like time is starting to stand still!!!!!

To all you preggos…hang in there! 🙂
