Hair be Gone

(Taboo subject ahead)

I was born with a lot of hair…especially on my head (which is good), but also when it came to ‘brows and my lip (which is not so good). Thankfully, my Mom recognized at en early age that it just wasn’t fair for her gorgeous daughter to be walking around with a unibrow so I began getting my ‘brows and lip waxed at the tender age of 13…THANK YOU MOM!!!!!

I still go and get waxed every 6 to 8 weeks, but when life gets a little hectic, Sally Hanson Wax Strips are the bomb! I only use them to keep my lip fuzz free, but you can also use them for any type of unwanted hair situation…then also hurt a lot less than the hot wax, which is another bonus.

$50 Fridays: Penneys on a Dollar

JCPenney is where we went as kids to get our pictures taken with my grandma or where old ladies got their hair set for the week, but lately I’ve seen a change on the horizon for Penneys and I’m likin it.

  2. JCPenney, Sleeveless Print Blouse
  3. Forever21, Fancy Jeweled Earrings

Runner!?!?  Baahahaha!  I crack my damn self up!

Anywho, I’m no Betty Crocker and my table isn’t always “set”, but I like to keep things looking pretty snazy.  AK and I were talking about investing in one of these.  I’m thinking a runner, some votive candles,  a few accents and my dinner table is good as new.

  2. Arabian World Market
  3. Garden Amazon
  4. Mexican Animal Pottery Barn

Next mission, get my cats to not screw the damn thing while I’m gone.

Baby on Board

Well, get ready, because another Tipsy bambino is on the way! I am 14 weeks preggo and couldn’t feel better…except the first experience of NOT being able to button my jeans yesterday…our little one is due to make his or her appearance on March 8! (Oh yeah, and we’re leaning towards not finding out the sex of the baby, but I’ll keep you posted if we change our minds…)

I patiently waited to buy baby stuff until I was officially out of my first trimester, but this past weekend my Mom, Sis, and I went a little baby crazy and here are some of the goods we picked up:

  1. Sophie the Giraffe Teether (Affectionately dubbed “George” by another Tipsy bambino.)
  2. Praying Mantis Organic Onesie
  3. Duck Wooden Push Toy
  4. Gund Snuffles Bear (This is the exact same bear my sister drug around, and lost, throughout her childhood so she’s keeping the spirit alive with her niece or nephew.)
  5. Mod About Baby Swaddle Blankets

Your Hair is Inexplicable

I’ve been having a bad hair summer. It’s been ferociously hot and humid here…more so than years past. And I have wavy, coarse hair, and of course I try and straighten it and it just frizzes right out when I walk outside.  It’s much happier in the winter.

So I decided to change up my hair products to see what I can do and here is what I’m working with now:

  1. Avon Lotus Shield-Sarah over at Hair Thursday introduced me to this and this is what I had to say about it.
  2. Osis Flattening Liquid-The lady that cuts my hair introduced this to me. I had been using Chi Straight Guard and felt like it was weighing my hair down a bit much. She told me that I needed different products in different weather.  This flattening liquid is like a very lightweight gel as opposed to a creme.
  3. Paul Mitchell Hot Off the Press-I alternate between this and some other thermal guard sprays before I straighten my hair and this one seems to be working at the moment.

Do I Need One of These?

I used to love the HELL out of my cheesy ass beanbag.  I literally loved it to death.  Beans (white Styrofoam pellets) EVERYWHERE.  After that,  I’m pretty certain of a couple of things:

#1 I got cooler.  #2 beanbags stayed the same level of coolness and/or dropped.

BUT…what I’m finding is that they’ve made a comeback?  Or maybe got cooler?  When did this happen?  You tell me, do I need one of these?

  1. FatBoy Bean Bag
  2. Modern Print Bag
  3. Junior Bean Bag
  4. SuperSac – ok, so this thing may be cool, but it’s also an 800 dollar bean bag.  This had better be the COOLEST DAMNED BEAN BAG TO EVER LIVE.
  5. PillowSac

Foot note:  Also tell me if I’ve lost my damned mind loving on bean bags.

Look again….

I’m not plastic or paper.  I’ve seen a coupla of coworkers sporting these around.

Hot coffee and iced coffee!  Great for the environment and lookin’ hip in the process.

  1. I’m not a paper cup
  2. Starbucks Acrylic Cup – this one is my fav.  Perfect for iced coffee on the go.
  3. Porcelain Crinkle Cup
  4. Eco Friendly Reusable Cup
  5. ECO Cup
  6. Smart Planet Cup

$50 Friday: Mad for Brad

I am an avid watcher and lover of the The Rachel Zoe Project.  And I pretty much think that Brad Goreski is the cutest thing in a bow tie since.. well, I don’t know that many bow tie wearers. I love menswear inspired looks, so why not dress like cute lil Brad…. now all we need is a bow tie.

  1. Amazon, Clear Lense Glasses
  2. Target, Canvas Flat Sneakers
  3. Target, Flannel Shirt Black Plaid
  4. Forever21, Fab Skinny Jeans

Extenda Table

I’ve been in search of a card table that I can use to extend my dining room table when I need to…little did I know there were such good options out there! I mean, when did the days of the metal and vinyl tables disappear?

  1. Amazon, Cosco Wood Folding Table: I think this is the one I’m ordering…it’s definitely the most cost effective.
  2. Amazon, Stakmore Folding Table
  3. Amazon, Black Top Folding Table
  4. Amazon, Scalloped Edge Folding Table

Books I Love

Sarah recently talked about movies that she can just watch over and over and over again. I have a list of books that I could read over and over and over again.  Now these may not all be literary genius according to many, but the way a book gets on this list for me is if I get to the end of the book and I DON’T WANT IT TO END.  It’s like I go through some sort of withdrawal from the story after.  Court says we are chasing a high that the book gives us.  So these are my books that I could read over and over again.  I guess I’m a sucker for a love story (with the exception of A Million Little Pieces).

What are the books you could read over and over again?

  1. The Time Traveler’s Wife, Audrey Niffenegger*
  2. The Horse Whisperer, Nicholas Evans*
  3. A Million Little Pieces, James Frey
  4. The Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer*

*The majority of these have been made into movies and ALWAYS, ALWAYS the books are a thousand times better.
