Now I Know My ABCs!

I have had this custom artwork bookmarked for a long, long time.  I SO SO SO want to get one of these for each of my boys.  I love that it can be so personalized and can be a learning tool not just in terms of education but of family-both past and present.

Potty Watch 2011

I’ve just spent my weekend holed up in my house with about 30 pairs of 2-3T underwear with various characters on the butt and a small child who we thought was ready to potty train but now we aren’t quite so sure.  So what I’d like to know from all you moms out there are TIPS.. TIPS PLEASE!   My little guy is currently doing the following: peeing standing up on the big potty when we take him in there, not telling me when he needs to go, and not pooping at all.  Scratch that last item, he decided to poop during bath time, lucky us.

My apologies to those of you without children who didn’t want to start your Monday like this.  I promise the next post will be for you!!

Shower de Sarah

We thought we’d share a few pics from the baby shower we helped throw for Sarah and her hubby over the weekend.  Sarah and Kynn have decided to not find out if they are having a boy or girl ahead of time so we had to stick with a strictly gender neutral shower.  Dr. Seuss was the answer!  We couldn’t possibly get all the decor in these shots but hoooo boy was it cute!

We had Seuss cookies and cupcakes and Seuss themed flowers and Red Fish and Blue Fish…and the list goes on and on!  Instead of a sign in book, we had everyone sign in on a copy of “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”.  Throughout the house we used Seuss books and stuffed Seuss characters as decor.  We also played two games: Baby Animal Matchathon and Baby Price is Right.  Definitely fun games as they were both a bit challenging.  All in all I think everyone had fun and Sarah and Kynn got a ton of very cute baby stuff.  Congrats to Sarah & Kynn! Can’t wait to meet the new addition!!

Splendid Littles, Definitely Splendid

Have you seen this new line at Target, Splendid Littles?  It’s turbo cute and right up my alley what with all the stripes.  I personally couldn’t help myself and picked up the little onesies, top left.  Love them!

A Wild End

I get the Serena & Lily catalog in the mail and as I was flipping through it I saw these book ends and just about died from the cuteness.  I’m particularly fond of ALL OF THEM!  Ha! No, actually I really love the dinosaur.  Are you a book end fan?

Get The Stink Out

We have a Diaper Champ in my son’s room and while it’s great to have it as an enclosed trash can in his room, I don’t think its ever worked on the stink. So we’ve always taken poopy diapers outside or used these (which are great by the way). However I ran across these Arm & Hammer Nursery Fresheners at Target the other day and thought I’d give them a whirl. Has anybody seen/tried these? I just threw one in the bottom of the Diaper Champ and we’ll see how it goes!

Holiday Gift Guides: Infants

Those wee little ones can sometimes be the hardest to buy for. I mean, they don’t play with toys and they don’t show much interest in anything besides sleeping, eating and pooping. But it is their first Christmas and by all means we need to have some presents under our tree for the little tyke.  Here are some great ideas for the newbies.

  1. Babies R Us, Mute Button– Every mommy and daddy needs a mute button every now and then and even if they are not a fan of the paci it is sure to get a good laugh.
  2. Etsy, My First Christmas Onesie– Doesn’t every baby need a My First Christmas outfit?? I think so.
  3. Etsy, Personalized Growth Chart– This is perfect for mommy and daddy to start to track the baby’s growth and since it can be used for a number of years to come.. it’s the gift that keeps on giving!
  4. Target, Sleep Sack– Every kiddo is going to wiggle their way out of a swaddle at some point and that point is now in my house. These wearable blankets or sleep sacks are sure to keep the baby toasty in the wintery months. It’s a snuggie for the bambinos!
  5. Etsy, That’s How I Roll Onesie–  You can never go wrong with the humorous onesie for a baby gift, this is one of my personal favs

Digging up Memories

My Mom has been going through all of my old baby stuff here lately and has dug up some really neat stuff. I have vintage baby clothes, homemade burp clothes, and adorable baby shoes already stocking my baby’s closet!

These are two of my favorite finds. One is a post card my Grandma sent me when I was 4 years old in celebration of her tiny Kansas hometown’s centennial celebration. The other is a pair of cowboy boots that were my Dad’s (they’re 50+ years old and look how great of shape they’re in)…I can’t WAIT to put these on my little one for his or her newborn pictures!

The point of this post? To inspire you to dig through your old stuff to see what treasures you can find…make sure and let me know what’s out there!

Meet My New Best Friend Named Moby

I received a Moby Wrap as a shower gift and when I opened it up thinking I would strap my one week old in and walk to the mail box for some fresh air, I was sadly mistaken because I was more confused than I needed to be on 2 hours of sleep looking at what seemed to be miles of stretchy fabric. So, back in the package it went until this week when I decided I needed to do my research and give it another go. I went to youtube and hit the jackpot on Moby Wrap tutorials. Voila! My child sleeps like no other for hours and hours and I’m hands free! It’s like baby blue tooth! I have even mastered hands free nursing with this contraption. It’s a miracle and every mom needs one.  (You can see some of the many holds and colors below)
