New Years Survey: Court

I realized that I didn’t even do this last year 🙂  Must have been swamped!  Here goes…..

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?

Hung off the side of the Stratosphere in Vegas.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Yes and no.  There was nothing official.  I will for sure make more this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes, my very best friend Der has a handsome baby boy.  Couldn’t be more excited for them.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No.

5. What countries did you visit?

USA, kept it local.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you didn’t have in 2010?

Hard one, I am very happy with my life.  Possibly no car payment.

7. What dates from 2010 will be etched upon your memory, and why?

Ben and I moved in together after dating for a few years.  That was very special.  Aus made honor roll more times that I can remember.  All of those days were very special to me.  Aus had a great season in soccer and showed his drive and ambition at each game.  I was so proud.

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?

Leaving a job that I had been at for a very, very long time.  Moving into a role and company that was unknown, but ultimately allowed me to be happier and be treated with respect.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Hmmm, I know I didn’t fail, but learning lessons of trying to be a great mom.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I actually just recently punctured myself wrapping presents.  Trip to ER, Tetanus Shot and 5 Stiches.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Hard one.  iPhone?  But it was bought for me.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Ben’s. He is so patient and loving.  I also have some great friends that I absolutely love to laugh with.

14. Where did most your money go?

Bills, standard response.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Sideline, Soccer Momming at Austin’s games.  I had the time of my life watching him play.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?

This is hard, cause we’ve been to so many concerts.  I love Pheonix’s Love Like a Sunset.  I think that can pretty much sum it all up.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?

a) Happier

b) MEH, about the same–still working on that one

Absolutely.  Love Ben, Aus, my babies.

Hard Hard.  I know its bad, but I really think it was the Twilight Series for me.  I’ve never been more into a book.

I thought the Social Network and Inception were great.  I think Diary of a Wimpy Kid was my fav flick to go see with Aus.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Vegas Baby.  I was 30, my Mom turned 60.  Ben and my family had a blast.  It was Ben and my first time there.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Less stress of the little things.  Who ever said don’t sweat the small stuff is so true.

It’s Scary Movie Time!

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine the other day about scary movies. He said he’d seen the newest exorcist movie and he didn’t think it was that scary. He proceeded to tell me the plot and it sounded pretty damn scary to me! So I asked him, what kind of movie scares him? He explained the kind of movie that scared him and it seem like maybe his ultimate scary movie is like science experiment horror.

So that got me thinking…what do I think is scary?  I think a big thing for me is if something is based on a true story then it definitely scares the crap out of me.  These movies have scared the crap out of me through the years.

  1. The Exorcist-I’m pretty sure this is based on a true story…this to me is the ultimate scary movie.
  2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre-This too is based on a true story.  I live in Texas.  And I still haven’t been able to make it through the entire movie.
  3. A Nightmare on Elm Street-I know this isn’t based on a true story but Freddie was a child murderer that is coming back to avenge his death.  And I also am very creeped out by that song in the movie…One, two Freddie’s comin for you….
  4. Halloween-This could totally be a true story.  Dude kills his sister, goes into an insane asylum and then escapes and starts killing people.  Amirite?  Side note: did you know the mask that Michael the killer wears in this film was created from William Shatner’s face?
  5. The Ring-Just the girl crawling out of the tv gets me every time.
  6. Poltergeist-I think I’ve seen this one the most out of all of these.  The house built on a cemetary…hearing Carol Anne via the television…DON’T GO INTO THE LIGHT!  And finally the fact that a lot of these people that acted in this movie are now dead is creepy to me…a Poltergeist curse!

So what is your genre of scary movie?

Birthday Wishlist

There are so many things in this world that I would love to have but a) will never buy for myself, and b) could not afford right now even if I did want to buy them. That, my friends, is the beauty of a birthday, and mine is right around the corner. Here are some items that are on my birthday wish list this year…

  1. Macy’s,  Keurig B60 Coffee Maker, Single Serve : This might be one of the greatest kitchen appliance I have ever used. For anybody who drinks a cup or 2 of coffee every day but not a whole pot, this is the perfect gift. No more cleaning a coffee pot. Ever again.
  2. Overstock.com, KitchenAid 5 Speed Blender : Yes I want a blender for my birthday. And yes, it has to be this color.
  3. Victoria’s Secret, Motorcycle Jacket : I love this jacket. Every time I get a Victoria’s Secret catalog in the mail I drool over it.
  4. Old Navy, Women’s Sliver Wedge Boots: I really want some tall, flat boots in this camel color for the fall, and these are super cute without a super high price tag.
  5. Amazon, Mikasa Cheers Too 16-ounce White Wine Glasses :  I got the original Mikasa Cheers white wine glasses as a graduation gift and would love to have the full set.
  6. Target, Sex and the City 2 I loved the show and I love this movie. It was even better than the last one. I have the entire series on DVD as well as the first movie, so I need to complete my collection 🙂
  7. Amazon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse : Although it is not available yet, I am holding out hope it will be here by my birthday. I am a Twi-hard, what can I say.
  8. Target, Tom Tom XL 340T GPS : I will be the first to admit that my sense of direction sucks. When I eventually leave the small college town I currently live in, a GPS for my car will be a must have.
  9. Reebok,  RunTone Action Shoes : I just recently started running and I really want a pair of these shoes.  Who doesn’t want their butt to look better?
  10. Direct From Mexico, Large Thick Talavera Cross : a) I love all things Mexican (especially food and decor), and b) I collect crosses

Oh and one more thing…

Chocolate Brown Wiener Dog

A brother or sister for Lily 🙂

Over, and Over, and Over Again

I could literally be stuck on a desert island with only these movies and be a happy camper. I’ve already watched them 100’s of times, and will probably watch them 100 more!

What movies can you watch over, and over, and over again?

  1. Dirty Dancing
  2. La Bamba
  3. Steel Magnolias
  4. Sweet Home Alabama
  5. Cocktail

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

As you know, Court and I are Twi-hards.  I wouldn’t necessarily call us fanatics or anything, we are just fans.  Der is too, although she hasn’t read any of the series, her sister has just told her all the details from the book and then she watched the movies.  Court and I have tried to get Der to read the books and granted, she started the first one but I don’t think she ever finished it.  Meaning I think she may have gotten to page 5 and then her sister was just basically her Cliff’s Notes. So I think that makes Der a Twi-Semi Hard (no pun intended).

So anyway, back to the subject at hand.  Eclipse.  It’s coming out next week.  My husband has so graciously decided to take off work and take me to the 10a showing because it comes out on my birthday.  What a present eh?  And before you say anything, I’m going to just go ahead and out my husband because he has also read all of the books and watched the movies and I’m not sure if he’s going to kill me for saying that, but I don’t think it’s going to be a hardship for him to watch the movie with me, if you get my drift.

I was seriously tempted to do the whole Twilight she-bang at our theater the night before where they show Twilight, New Moon and then a midnight showing of Eclipse…but let’s be honest here…I’d still have to get up at 6:30a with the kiddo and I honestly don’t know if I could stay up that late.  Pathetic, I know.  So I would like to know who of you are Twi-hards and are you going to see the movie when it comes out?

Toy Story Anyone?

So my child wakes up at 6a most days, takes 1 nap that can range anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on the day, and the rest of the time? The rest of the time involves running, lots and lots of running and/or thinking the furniture in our house is the Little Gym.  Generally the only time the kiddo will sit still is if I put on Toy Story 1 or 2.  And I’m gonna go ahead and admit it, it’s really nice to sit down for a breather.  So we are very much looking forward to Toy Story 3 coming out and having that be The First Movie Experience.

So with all that said, I have two questions for you:

What is your kiddo’s favorite movie?

And why does Bullseye (horse) not speak when Hamm (pig), Rex (dinosaur), and Slinky (dog) do?

Disney Store, Buzz & Woody Tee for Boys
