Colorblocking has been a big trend lately and I must say I am a big fan. The limited has some uber cute options for anyone who shares my opinion of this trend. That kimono top and halter top are needed in my wardrobe stat!

New York State of Mind
I hadn’t been to a mall in months (shocking, I know) when I ventured into one this past weekend. New York and Co is one of my favorite stores, but they have even shocked me with the level of cuteness going on in there. Take a look at these beauties…

Outfit Request: Defending a Thesis
I got a request yesterday from a Tipsy reader asking my opinion about what to wear when defending a thesis in a science field. For those of you who don’t know any science-minded people, many of them are a tad bit challenged when it comes to style. And by a tad bit, I mean a whole lot. Because they often dress super casual for work (jeans and socks with sandals…eek!), the goal is to look professional without being too dressy (i.e. no suits). Here are a few options I came up with…
option 1. Fixed Bow Striped Sheath Dress +Mossimo Black Vanette Kitten Heel Pumps
option 2. Merona Collection Jillian Crosshatch Skirt + Merona Women’s Double Layer Shirred V-Neck Top + Adi Desings Classic Pointed Toe Pumps
option 3. Ruffle and Striped Belted Dress + Cuffed Sleeve V-Neck Cardigan + Mossimo Pearce Pumps
option 4. Banded Waist Button Front Shirt + Chino Solid Ruffle Skirt + Mossimo Pearce Pumps
For those of you looking for something less trendy, you can never go wrong with a classic sheath dress!
Skirts! Skirts! Skirts!
Here in Texas its already swelteringly hot, so that means SKIRTS and shorts. I love me a skirt. I actually have #1 in white with orange embroidery and I have to say it’s one of my favorite skirts. I throw on an orange t-shirt and flip flops and bam I’m dressed! So when I saw this color combo, I immediately started salivating. Please tell me, what is your favorite skirt lately? And what are you wearing with it?

Sweat Pants Alternative
I used to watch Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style every week until they ripped it from me like a thief in the night. Tim preached that every woman needed a sweat pants alternative. Something that feels like your PJs , but something that would be ok to be seen in at the grocery store. I’ve been looking for a sweat pants alternative lately and I’ve found some very intriguing and non-sweat pantsy options. What’s your sweat pants alternative?

Purple People Eater
I have never really been a pink type of girl. I like pink, but I don’t LOVE pink. When I was little, my favorite color was purple. I wanted purple everything. My first car was even purple (no idea what I was thinking) So, purple is still near and dear to my heart. Purple looks great accented with oranges or greens and my personal fav turquoise!

Boden Catalog=Crack
Is this true for everyone? Probably not. But it is true for me, man do I love me a Boden catalog. They draw me in with their bright colors, they string me along with their outfit color combos, they have stuff for my kid, and they now have US sizing! So I thought I’d share what I’m currently drooling over.

- Boden, Rosette Top
- Boden, Embellished Jersey Vest
- Boden, Fun Skirt
Not A Hideous Skirt Convention
DownEast Basics has got it going on AK-style in the form of skirts. Requirements: they can’t be too short and they MUST be colorful so that I can pair it with a t-shirt of my choice and some comfy flip flops.
