Hump Day Happy Hour: Bring on the Bubbly

It’s that time to celebrate right?  Wednesday at 2 pm?  HAHAA, kidding.  But freals, loving on this gas station price, top of the line tasting sparkling wine by Barefoot.  My new personal fav.  I like the Brut, cause its not sweet and has the perfect amount of tang.  I love the bubbles cause its a celebration! Your wallet will thank you since some of the options for sparkling wine can get a little pricey.

Hump Day Happy Hour: Punkin Ale

I haven’t tried this before but my kid calls Pumpkins, PUNKINS and I felt we needed a Halloween themed drink for this week…so there you have it.  Go have a PUNKIN ALE and some Halloween candy that you know you want to eat before all the trick or treaters come your way.

Hump Day Happy Hour: The Graveyard

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, I found this drink recipe. It not only has a fitting name, but it also promises to put you IN the graveyard if you drink too much…

  • 1 oz. Tequila
  • 1 oz. Tabasco sauce
  • 12 oz. Lemon-lime soda

Mix together and enjoy!

Hump Day Happy Hour: Madras (Fall in Love)

We have our first The Tipsy Wedding Project update for you!!  We begin in pure Tipsy fashion with the drink that Christen chose.  If you’ll recall we gave our suggestions and then asked for yours.

Christen and Ed picked a madras to serve to their guests and decided to name it after one of the ideas our commenters threw at them, the “Fall in Love”.

Madras
1 oz orange juice
1.5 oz vodka
3 oz cranberry
garnish with an orange slice!

(served on the rocks in a cocktail glass)

Here’s the backstory Christen gave us on the drink decision:

We started playing around with some of the recipes provided by you Tipsy gals, which was really fun, as you can imagine!  We’d mix up ingredients and try different combos, but never really hit on a clear choice.  Then I rememered how much I like the madras.  So I mixed one up for me, one for Ed and he agreed it was tasty!  We didn’t want something too girly-pink or too hardcore (like a martini) and this was a good medium.  The color was fun, we could easily garnish with an orange slice, and it was easy enough for the bartender to make in batches and serve up.  Winner!

Hump Day Happy Hour: Red Red Wine

I have always been a white wine girl, but lately I have expanded my horizons to the world of red. What  I have found for you ladies is a delicious and CHEAP (less than $10 a bottle) red wine, available at your local World Market store. It is slightly sweet, and not too dry. After a stressful week of exams I treated my self to a few glasses bottle of Santa Alicia Carmenere Reserva and it worked wonders…

Hump Day Happy Hour: Oldie, but Goodie

I’m usually a total beer girl, but when I’m watching my waist line (like when I was in college and trying to lose the freshman 15 20) I turn to this…

Vodka Tonic

  • 1 shot of vodka
  • tonic water
  • 3 limes

Hump Day Happy Hour: Gin Rickey

So I’m pretty sure this is an old person drink.  I just wanted to get that disclaimer out of the way.  I’m usually a fan of anything with lime or limeade in it.  Has anyone tried this? Do you like it?  Is it worth a try?

Hump Day Happy Hour: Vodka Gimlet

A couple of weeks ago we did a post about our fav drink and that provoked some response from the readers on their favorites.  Well a lovely little lady turned me on to the Vodka Gimlet.  LOVE Em’

1 1/2 oz. vodka

1 oz. Lime Juice

Stir all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

I’m not sure if it had to do with the amount of gimlets i consumed, but by the end of the night I was yelling and laughing GIMLET GRAVY repeatedly.  That might just be a side effect of the drink.   🙂

Hump Day Happy Hour: Orangeade

Now, I won’t be adding any vodka to this (although I’d love to) but that is certainly a great idea.

Take one 2 qt. lemonade mix in a pitcher and instead of water, add club soda. Top that off with a cup of orange juice (I prefer the light, pulp free variety) and slice up some oranges, slap ’em in there and let those babies exude their juicy goodness. Yumilicious, I tell ya.

Hump Day Happy Hour: Lemonade Punch

I ran across this recipe while I was browsing the interwebs one day and it just sounds delish, and possibly perfect for a Labor Day party!?!?

Lemonade Punch

  • 3 cans of frozen Pink Lemonade
  • 1 jar of Maraschino Cherries
  • 1 bottle of Lemon-lime soda
  • 1 bottle of Red Wine
