Christmas List: 7-year-old BOY Edition!

Anyone want to know whats on a 7-year-old’s Christmas list…?? Here it is.

cr-atm xmas list

  1. New Super Mario Bros for Wii –  will Mommy want to play?  Mayyyybe.   Some of my favorite memories of Austin and I together have come from when I conquered SMB on Austin’s DS about a year ago.  I felt like a hero with him cheering me on 🙂
  2. Star Wars Table Top Electric Pinball – Darth Vader + Pinball = awesome.
  3. Star Wars Lego Star Wars Limited Edition X-Wing Fighter – see above.  Star Wars + Lego = awesomer.  Finding miscellaneous Rebel Alliance Lego parts all over the house for years=priceless.
  4. Pokemon Sleeping Bag – Do we go camping alot?  No.  Do we have tons of uses for a Pokemon themed sleeping bag?  Hellz yes.
  5. Blockus – strategy game that my son will love and I will hopefully master and be able to rub it in his face.  HAHAHA!  I mean Ho Ho Ho!
  6. Pokemon Puzzle – we can put this together while zipped up in #4!
  7. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days – this is the fourth book in this series and my son has finished the three before it.  Like I always tell Austin….always read something that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it. Seriously though, this series is great, and it keeps Austin hungry to read.  Win, win.
  8. Snap on Digi Camera – Can hold up to 40 pics and its spring clip prevents it from being lost yeah right.
  9. Guess Who – does your person have hair?  does your person have glasses?  does your person have wrinkles?  Whoever that is, thats one ugly ass person.  But I love playing this game with Austin.

As a side note, Ben (my boyfriend) and I Santa may or may not have shopped at kids.woot.com this year for many of these items 🙂

Christmas Wishlist: Sarah Edition

The Mission:create a list of fabulousness that I wouldn’t mind showing up under the tree on Christmas morning if  $$$ were NO object!

The Result:

sk-xmas list

  1. Tiffany & Co., 1837 Interlocking Circles Ring: I have been in LOVE with this ring since I first tried it on. Why am I trying on jewelry at Tiffany’s you ask? Because it’s fun…that’s why! Another thing that draws me to this ring is the rose gold, anyone else out there as obsessed with rose gold as me?
  2. Amy Butler, Carried-Away Everything: These bags are a tad pricey, but they are super-cute. I would also like several of her tote bags as well, but that’s for another post…
  3. Allens Boots, Old Gringo Cruzadas: Ok, this is the 2nd time I’ve mentioned these boots in this blog…don’t you think it’s time someone bought them for me?
  4. Anthropologie, Fire Within Posts: Simple, classic, and just plain cute.
  5. JCrew, Salon Bracelet: Truth be told, I wanted to put all of the JCrew jewelry line on this list…
  6. Williams-Sonoma, Le Creuset 6 and 3/4 Qt. Oval Dutch Oven: I just feel like I need this dutch oven because a) the Pioneer Woman uses one a lot when she cooks and b) who doesn’t like a lime green pot in their cabinets!?!
  7. Amazon, KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer: This needs to be on my counter in my kitchen…it will break up the absurd amount of red that I have!
  8. Crate & Barrel, OXO Pop Containers: My pantry has become disheveled…these should help…
  9. Williams-Sonoma, Le Creuset 12″ Fry Pan: Geez, you would think cooking was my hobby with all these kitchen items on my list!
  10. Pottery Barn, Tuscan Urns: These would look really neat in my house.
  11. Anthropologie: Shocking, but this jewelry box is no longer available, but I do like this alternative!
  12. Nordstrom, Michele ‘Deco’ Customizable Watch: I seriously have not had a new watch since I was in high school…

It Doesn’t Get Better Than Sprinkles

While strolling through my local mall Christmas Shopping, I stepped foot into Williams Sonoma and discovered what is going to quickly become an addiction. Excuse me while I wipe my drool. Sprinkles Cupcake Mixes! It was so tempting not to purchase each and every one of the flavors. What an awesome gift for yourself or for someone else… OR serve them at your holiday parties and watch how fast they go!

Hump Day Happy Hour: Merry Christmas Punch

We all know that the holidays really translates into a really good excuse to get yo’ drank  on with close family and friends, right?  So here’s another option for spiking the punchbowl.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 bottle raspberry vodka
  2. 72 ounces cranberry juice
  3. 1/2 bottle Absolut vodka
  4. 1 can Sprite soda

Directions:

Pour all ingredients (chilled beforehand) into a large container or punch bowl filled with ice.   I think some of these Green Ice Lites would be a great substitution for ice cubes, just sayin’.  Allow to chill.  Serve in punch cups or tall glasses.  Maybe something like these would be fun!

So, Last Weekend We Got Tipsy…

We told you we’d keep you posted here on some of our social gatherings…. This past weekend we attended a company Christmas party.  Some things to note:

  1. None of us work for this company.
  2. We were expressly invited to this party to make it “fun”.*
  3. It didn’t matter that we didn’t work for this company, however our connection was Der’s mom.
  4. We had great food, great drinks, great company along with the best music from 1985-1993.
  5. Der taught us many dance moves such as The Gator, The Lawn Mower, No Strings Attached, Churning Butter, The Shopping Cart, The Water Sprinkler…and the list goes on and on.
  6. We found ways to line dance to many songs, none of which are of the country genre and we don’t normally line dance.
  7. We beat up the DJ for not playing Sweet Caroline and/or Party in the USA.  (This may or may not be true)

*We succeeded.  We were known as the “fun table”.

Guy Gift Guide: Golfer Edition

If your Saturday mornings are like my wife’s, there’s a 42% chance on any given week your sig will be out hitting the links. Well, at least before it got cold. But still, this should be soooo easy to buy for, right? Golf, I mean, get him golf stuff. But, you’ve probably already tried and failed at that. You’ve purchased that cute driver head cover of a tiger or a kuala or some other species, only to see (well actually to never see) him use it.

Here’s a guide on what golfers would actually want to receive. And, unlike my other guides, everything in here isn’t like a bazillions dollars. This is the last in my guest post series on what to get your guy for the Holidays. See my guide for Chefs and Geeks.

First: a Pro Tip — Steer clear of the following: clubs, putters, and golf balls. These are far too personal an item to choose for someone else. Notable exception: write a card with a handwritten note: “Redeemable for 1 putter, wedge, or wood of your choice.”

  1. Callaway HT Bag ($199) … Most guys have these golf bags that are designed for walking; that is that they’re really light. They’re made so you can walk the entire course. Does anyone know anyone who walks on a regular basis anymore? I do not, and most courses are not walk-friendly. This bag is made for the golf cart and is proud of it.
  2. 15′ Orange Head Retriever ($13) … It retrieves errand golf balls from the lake or someone’s back yard. A Necessity for anyone who isn’t a tremendous golfer. And don’t worry, you’d already know if your guy was tremendous golfer because his friends wouldn’t shut up about the unfairness of it all.
  3. Practice Net ($129.99) … Hey, it might get him out of the house and into the back yard for a while
  4. Tiger Woods 2010 for the Wii ($40) … Best golf game out there, and you might be able to find it on steep discount. (too soon?) If he already has, get this Wii Golf Club, which has cool written all over it.
  5. Nike or Callaway shirt ($27) … This technology shirt (get any that say Dry-Fit or Fit-Dry) is the most awesome shirt ever. Really, I love these things, and you’ll have the extra benefit of being able to dress your man for the golf course.
  6. Lessons from your local golf club: Really, this is the best gift. Even a set of three 30 minute lessons on putting will be remembered for a long, long time. You’re welcome Internets.

If you want help choosing which golf club to get lessons at, leave me a comment below with your City and I’ll suggest one for you.

Stuff That Stocking Girly Style!

Here are a few ideas for stocking stuffers of the girly kind ala ak! I think this is the perfect combo of girly meets geeky meets OCD if I do say so myself. Can I get a WHAT WHAT?!

  1. Levenger, Pocquettes Zipped Earbud Pouch Keychain – This is SO cool, I mean the little thing that fits inside to keep the earbuds from tangling up–can you say OCD much?
  2. Bagel Creations Etsy Shop, Adjustable Coffee Cozy-Bright – I purchased one of these a while back for a keno gift and also bought one for myself and they are awesome and very chic!
  3. Chia’sso, Pin Up Frames – OMG you know how we feel about polaroids around these parts and I think they are just too cute to pass up.
  4. Cambria Cove, iPouch Wallet by knomo-fuschia – Something like this is perfect for a mom who is still carrying a diaper bag..you can put all important things in this and just throw it in the diaper bag when you head out.  Also, its perfect for those running out for a quick trip type of situations and you don’t want to haul the whole kitchen sink you have in your regular size purse–essentials only.
  5. JennaDesigns Etsy Shop, Travel or Pocket Tissue Holder/Cozy – Ditto in regards to keno as stated above, purchased one for myself as well.  The great thing about this is that when you are rummaging around in your purse, the bright fabric makes it easier to find.
  6. Anne Taintor, She Was One Cocktail Away From Proving His Mother Right Magnet – I can’t tell you how funny I think this is as well as everything on this site.
  7. Anthropologie, Smith’s Rosebud Salve – This stuff is fab as a lip balm, for minor cuts, for dry skin, for a mini mani and the list goes on and on.  And the smell of it is divine.
  8. Brookstone, My Life Digitial Photo Keychain – I love being able to just upload some pics and run out the door…it’s too hard to have printed pics in an envelope to show off.
  9. Crafts2Cherish Etsy Shop, Black Beret with Red Wet Felted Flower – In Houston, when it’s cold for that one day a year, this would be perfecto!

Christmas Wishlist: CR Edition

So a few of these are completely outrageous, because I can’t imagine spending the $.  But in a world where money didn’t matter, here is a list of the things I want to see under my tree.

  1. Z Gallerie Lithe Vases ($14.95 – $18.95) – simple, yet intricate.  Would be perfect for my bamboo!
  2. Hello Kitty Ceramic Watches ($995 – 2900) – yes, I am 29 and 3/4’s and am an admitted Hello Kitty junkie.  These watches are too cute.
  3. Urban Outfitters Head Band ($18.00) – not even sure this would look good on me, just seems really unique and funky, like me.
  4. Yellow Strauss Toms (54.00) – fun and funky.
  5. Tyler Diva Scented Candle ($17.95) – I am just obsessed with these candles and this scent.
  6. Ikea Red Clock ($29.99) – love love love this cute little ticker.
  7. Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave ($79.99) – this is a want, definitely not a need.  But if I could pick any out there, this wireless mouse and keyboard surely have my vote.
  8. Rotating Spheres Arc Floor Lamp ($79.99) – I am certain this would complete my house’s transformation to an Asian wannabe home.
  9. Pottery Barn Fruitwood Pillar Holders ($22.99) – too cute, very simple.  I love candles and am sure I would be able to find some which would a nice reason to have these around.
  10. Ivy Mirror and ID Case ($16.00) – did I also ever mention that I am notorious for constantly misplacing my ID, debit card, keys, mind, and sanity.  Think this will help???
  11. Puma Hoodie ($69.00) – did I ever mention I am obsessed with Hoodies?  Any of the Tipsy girls can attest to this.  I am convinced this is the perfect hoodie for me.
  12. Oh and did I mention this little guy (priceless) – no comment :).

A Kitchen Gadget That Will Change. Your. Life.

I have this recipe that I would say I make fairly often…special occasion, holiday, what have you…  The problem with this recipe?  The everlovinghandcrampingsifting.  I mean holy mother of hell, the sifting alone could kill you.  Then I found it.  IT.  A battery operated sifter!  It’s UhMayZING!  I have one and I gifted it 3 times last year.

Ladies, This is a Way to Destroy Your Husband at Golf

So this is our Christmas tradition at my parents house…  Christmas morning we eat breakfast, we open gifts, we get dinner started and then we get our game on.

Since we live in the Houston area, the weather is generally not what you think of as wintery…its more like throw a jacket on and go outside and you are fine type of weather.  So while dinner is cookin’, we get to gamin’ and let me tell you you might as well have yelled SHALLONGE!  The competitiveness that comes out here is unbelievable.

Here’s some ideas for ya…

  2. Official Outdoor Steel Horseshoe Set
  3. Fundex Bulls-Eye Washers

What do you guys do on Christmas Day?
