I’m in the midst of a complete closet overhaul. I have a lot of stuff to get rid of and I also have a lot of things I want to reorganize. I’ve been searching pinterest and googling tips and organization tools to get my closet all spiffed up. One of the ideas I ran across was to use a regular old bath robe or bath towel hook for your belts. So I headed to my neighborhood Target and instead of getting the regular bath/towel hook I had planned on, I ran across these and thought it might be even better. So far so good! There were different sizes that will hold different weights. If you decide to go this route you might want to take into account that you can’t hang a tiny belt on the wide hook, so you might want to get different sizes for different belts, but man otherwise, this is getting my organizational juices going!
Hump Day Happy Hour: Beer Can Shandies
I’m not much of a beer drinker but when I saw this recipe in People magazine Country Special (I know, I know, shut it) I thought this actually looked like something I’d be up for. This is a Deen Brothers, of Paula Deen, recipe and I believe it can be found in their cookbook, Get Fired Up.
Beer Can Shandies
6 (12oz) cans of your favorite beer
1 (16oz) carton of lemonade
Open a can of lager and drink four sips. Top remaining beer with lemonade. Swirl to combine, adding more lemonade as desired.
New Hair Stuff
Hey y’all! Sorry for the lack of posting! It’s been a bit nutty around here, hopefully we can get back into a groove here. I thought I’d share some new hair stuff I just recently tried. Just to give you an idea…I have the thickest hair known to man and live in a VERY humid area, so not only does it take me like 500 years to dry my hair straight, then I have to fight the frizz when I walk outside.
KMS California Free Shape-So I’ve used this twice now and I’m pretty sure it reduced my drying time considerably, but I did have a certain 5 month old screaming off and on during the drying process, so I’ll keep you posted on this one.
Blow Weather Girl Climate Neutralizing Complex-This has definitely worked the two times I have used it. I have not had frizz problems as of late. However I’d love to try this in the summer when it’s super duper humid and hot to see how it does.
Have y’all tried anything lately that you think is the bomb? Care to share?
Hair Therapy
I’ve been using this Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask about once a week for several months now and I can’t tell you how much I love it. I have very thick, wavy hair that I flat iron when I like to look presentable. So my hair definitely takes a beating. But this stuff really makes my hair super duper soft, smooth and healthier feeling. You should definitely give it a try if you are in need of some hair repair.
A Birthday for the Cars Obsessed
My oldest son will be 3 in October and his current obsession is Cars 2. He knows what country the racers are from, what their numbers are, where the 3 races in the World Grand Prix take place, etc etc. So, we play with cars every. single. day. Keeping that in mind I’ve been trying to come up something for his birthday. I’ve got 3 different things in mind that are potential winners.
- Park & Play Service Garage (CP Toys)- works with die-cast cars, has multiple ramps for driving or crashing vehicles (omg), has a working elevator (omg omg), and a car wash (omg omg omg)!!
- Disney Pixar Cars 2 Charge Ups Track Set (Target)- you charge up cars and then they race around the track on their own
- Quercetti Super Marble Run Vortis (Amazon)- or a marble run of some sort. The kiddo got to play with one of these in real life and dude was busy for a WHILE.
So tell me other moms of car obsessed children, what do I need?
Good Eats
Kids and food…it’s a toss up right? Some days they eat great, some days you think they are a bottomless pit, and other days you wonder how they keep the energy up with the minuscule amounts of food they ingest. On those days I’m all, let’s have a little bit more milk, whattayasay?
- Healthy Habits Kids Food Plate–Danielle and I were talking about this plate the other day and how great it is that it helps US the parents know how much to serve and also teaches the kiddos portions of food at mealtimes.
- Jane Jenni Funky Monkey Melamine Plate, Amazon
- Fred & Friends Food Face, Amazon-This might just instigate playing with food but its funny no?
- Stephen Joseph Melamine Tray, Amazon-This is the type of plate I should have had as a kid because I wanted all my food separate…DID. NOT. WANT. IT. TOUCHING.
Do you guys have picky eaters or bottomless pits?
Bottle Be Gone
I was given some pretty sound advice from our pediatrician to start my little man with a practice sippy cup at 6 months old, so he would be a pro by one year. Well, thanks to the 3 stage Nuby cup we were bottle free in our household a few months shy of the year mark!
This bottle/cup transition was so smooth I have to tell each and every one of you with bambinos to try this out. It allows for your little one to hold the bottle and learn to drink and when they are ready you can switch to the sippy cup nipple that comes included. I can not say enough great things about these little gems!
2 New Dynamic Duos
These two books are the latest additions to our growing library. One is about a dog and a chick and one is about pig brothers. Both are super cute. I bought both of them and then realized they are by the same author, Jennifer Sattler. Kid tested and approved.
Baby Punching Bags
My son loves this thing his Granny purchased for him. He bats at it, tries to make out with it (or that’s what it looks like) and generally loves to rough it up. It’s quite funny to watch.
SO, when his Grandpa brought over THIS GUY, he was a super major hit. Who knew babies could love punching bags so much!
Glitzy Nails
Previously, even in my teen years, I would never be one to sport glitter nails or toes. Lately that has changed. I am recently drawn to the sparklier the better type of situation, specifically on my toesies. Here are some glittery shades I’m really digging.
