Herb Garden

These totally inspire me to grow herbs on my window sill…you know, the window sill with the cute curtains that is always open so you can see the kiddos playing in the yard while you’re inside doing dishes…you know, that one…the only problems is:

A) I can’t grow anything plants to save my life.

B) I don’t have a flippin window sill!!!! (or kiddos…actually, I don’t “do” dishes either…)

But aren’t these inspiring????

Hump Day Happy Hour: Singapore Sling

This week’s HDHH is a throwback to one of my fave movies as kid, Cocktail! On a side note, isn’t it funny to watch movies that you  LOVED as a kid and as an adult you actually see how utterly inappropriate they actually were for you to be watching???? Just putting it out there…

  • 2 shots of pineapple juice
  • 1 shot of gin
  • 1 tbs. of grenadine
  • Add seltzer to top off the glass
  • Garnish with limes and a cherry

Spring Blooms

So it’s FINALLY that time of year again, in Texas at least, and we get to plant beautiful spring blossoms! Luckily, my hubby is in the landscaping business, so he decided to share a few of his favorite spring plants:

  1. Begonias
  2. Day Lillies
  3. Marigolds
  4. Impatiens
  5. Salvia
  6. Coleus
  7. Zinnias

Happy planting everyone!

Death by Paper

I recently joined the glorious world of working from home, and, while my job definitely has its perks, I’m finding the long hours I spend in my super-cute home office are getting extremely uncomfortable. I blame this mostly on the chair…SO…I’m on the hunt for both  fashionable AND functional home office chair…what do you think of these???

  • 1 glass of OJ
  • Splash of grenadine

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Winery Spotlight: Red 55 Winery

As AK mentioned in her Round Top Recap, we had an opportunity to try some wine from Miranda Lambert’s winery, Red 55. Her wines are all  named after one of her fabulous, always playing on my i-pod, songs and I have to admit, the actual wine is GREAT!

Miranda’s Dad gave us a good overview of all of the wines, as well as ensuring us that the grapes are grown in Texas, so it’s always  nice to fall in love with something local. I haven’t been to the actual winery, but it’s located in Lindale, TX. and is on my list of locales to visit.

  1. White Liar: A smoothe and fruity Chardonnay.
  2. County Road 233: A tastey Merlot. (I tried this one and it was in my top 2 of favorites for sure…I was also told this was Miranda’s fave as well!)
  3. Crazy Ex Girlfriend: It’s classified as a “sweet white” wine, which would be right up Der’s alley if she wasn’t preggo…maybe this should be her after-baby gift!?!?!?!
  4. Red 55: A cabernet sauvignon that I KICK myself for not trying…I was obsessed with this type of wine all winter!
  5. Belle: This is a sweet red that I would compare to a shiraz for sure…
  6. Kerosene: Similar to a pinot grigio, this was my other favorite….it is really smooth and not as dry as other pinot’s that I’ve had…LOVE IT!
  7. Electric Pink: A white zinfandel that, lets be honest, how do you go wrong with a white zinfandel!

There is for sure a wine to suit all pallets in this group and this would definitely make a great, and fun, gift for someone. The wine can only be bought at the winery in Lindale, TX. and on the website, but Miranda’s Dad assured us he was working on getting it to us in stores soon! (I suggested Specs BTW, best liquor store in the state of Texas!)

Lets, Play Ball!

It’s that time of year ladies and gents, baseball season has officially begun, and if you live in a house with a baseball loving freak guy, then you know that opening day is a BIG day! My hubby and I attended opening day for the Houston Astros on Monday…

Here are the things I observed/experienced:

  • A giant flag.
  • Air Force Commanders parachuting into the field.
  • Jack Ingram singing the National Anthem. (If you don’t know who this is, look him up, he’s pretty good…)
  • Massive amount of peanuts. (Sorry, I ate the chili cheese dog too fast and couldn’t get a picture of it!)
  • LONG lines to acquire said peanuts and chili dog.

The HIGHLIGHT of the night by far, however, was seeing George Bush Sr. and Barbara on the kiss cam (not pictured). They did kiss and it was very sweet…I hope me and the hubby are as cute as them when we enter our twilight years! 🙂
