To Spend or NOT to Spend

THAT is the question. I don’t have any curtains hanging in my house, but I would like to start slowly dressing my windows. First up, my office!

I want long, chocolate curtains, but my dilemma is: do I spend the extra $$$ to get good quality curtains or do I get the cheapo’s? What have you done in your house?

Maternity 2.0

I wish people would tell you that you will essentially have 2 maternity wardrobes, and I’m currently on 2.0. I guess this may not be true for everyone, but I will tell you that I woke up one morning and over half of my maternity wear had turned to crop tops! This may be because I have a really long torso and it may also be because I am carrying this baby ALL out front…either way, I had an excuse to pick up these cute duds!

  1. Target, Maternity V-Neck Ruched Side Fashion Top
  2. Target, Maternity Long-Sleeve V-Neck Knit Top
  3. Gap, Ruffle henley placket
  4. Old Navy, Maternity ruffle-trim jersey tunic
  5. Gap, Cowlneck blouson top
  6. A Pea in the Pod, 3/4 sleeve rib-knit maternity sweater

Fast, Healthy…Dinner!

I’ve been making this dish for a couple of years now and it finally dawned on me to share it with everyone! So fast, so easy, and soooooo good! (My hubby will even eat the leftovers for this and that’s REALLY saying something.)

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated fettuccine
  • 3 tbs extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 package pre-cooked chicken breast (or you can use 3/4 pound of chicken you cook)
  • 1 package sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 package fresh spinach (or arugula if you prefer)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with basil and oregano
  • 1/2 cup white wine

Directions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil and add chicken, mushrooms, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Cook and stir until chicken has cooked through (if using raw chicken) and mushrooms have released their juices.
  3. Add spinach and cook until wilted. Add tomatoes and wine. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Drain pasta and toss with chicken mixture.

Enjoy!

Fabulous Footwear Friday

It’s been a cold one down here in Houston people! (And by cold, I mean highs in the 40’s, which FORCED me to turn my heater on, which FORCED me to act like a big cold baby…) Anyway, I know that’s not cold to most of you, but while I was throwing my “it’s too damn cold pity party”, I decided to look for some cozy shoes to make me feel better. Could these not be any cuter!?!?!?! And the price made them that much more fab!

A Pouf, Pouffe, or Floor Cushion

Whatever you call it, I’m in love with these things. I’m trying to find one to use in the nursery as a little foot stool for my rocking chair, but I just can’t decide…do you have anything like this in your house?

  1. CB2, Knitted Poufs
  2. Etsy, Amy Butler Floor Cushion Ottoman
  3. Etsy, Hand Screen Printed Floor Cushion Cover
  4. Etsy, Pouffe Crochet

Best Hide-a-bed Ever?

I’m an avid watcher of the Guiliana and Bill  reality show. (If you don’t watch it you need to get on board.) If you do watch it, how sucky was the ending for Guiliana and Bill!?!?!

Anyway, when they were decorating their L.A. apartment, they picked up this sofa for the study and I thought it was awesome!

It’s a) a cute sofa b) pulls out into a sleek bed, and c) can also store pillows and blankets!

Acrylic Obsession

I’m not sure what it is, but I’m obsessed with anything and everything that’s made out of acrylic these days. I haven’t actually purchased any of these items, but they’re on my SERIOUS wish list right about….NOW!

  1. CB2, Acrylic Leaning Wine Rack
  2. Amazon, Acrylic Nesting Tables
  3. The Container Store, Acrylic Shelves
  4. Amazon, Anime Chair (set of 2)
  5. Crate and Barrel, Acrylic 5×7 Block Frame
  6. The Container Store, Magazine Slipcase

Vintage Jewelry

My grandmother recently sold her house and when my Mom was up there helping her move, she came back with a bag FULL of jewelry that nobody else wanted! My sister and I dug through all the pieces and here are some of the fabulous finds I got to add to my collection.

The lesson here? Dig through anything and everything you can…you never know what cool things you might walk away with!

Hump Day Happy Hour: Los Vascos

It’s a good thing I’m preggers during the winter because I’m not really craving or missing beer as much as I might in a HOTT Texas summer; however, my sister broke open a bottle of this stuff at Christmas and it sure did smell wonderful!

This is her go to red wine: Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon and people, it’s not only cheap, but can usually be found in the grocery store. Enjoy a glass for me!

New Year, New Workouts?

I’m the type of person that has to constantly change up my workout routine because, well lets be honest, I get BORED! Some of the workouts I tried and loved in 2010 include:

  1. Bootcamp; by far my favorite workout of the year because everyday is something different!
  2. No More Trouble Zones; this was a good “I don’t feel like going to the gym” workout.
  3. Reformer Pilates; Not a huge cardio workout, but GREAT for strength training.
  4. Bickram Yoga; I only did this a couple of times because it was so dang TOUGH, but I think this should be my go to in 2011 to help sweat off the baby weight.

So, I put a question mark next to the title of this post because I’m interested to see if there’s a new workout that I need to know about and/or try!?!?!? It seems that every year there’s a huge fad, and I’m not above jumping on a bandwagon…
