Etsy Spotlight: Annie’s Mobile Boutique

I love unique mobiles in nurseries.  There is just something about a colorful, modern twist on a nursery must-have.  When I was browsing my way through Etsy the other day, I happened upon this mobile at Annie’s Mobile Boutique and automatically saved it as one of my favs.  I love the bright fabrics on the little birds.  Simply adorable.

To Gown or Not to Gown?

So, I’ve been having this little debate with my mother on baby gowns such as the ones below. My mom swears by them like they are the best thing since sliced bread or some type of miracle baby outfit that I can not and will not want to live without. See, sure she is experienced with children, but that was also almost 3 decades ago.  So, what’s the deal? Are gowns the way to go? You tell me, people.

Boys Rule!

As many of you know, I am adding another weiner to my family… I’m having a BOY!!! My mind is going bonkers with all the possibilities. I have heard of the challenges to find cute boy stuff and I think I’m the right girl for the job. Here are some of the items that have my credit card on fire.

Baby Name Game

Trying to decide on baby names with my husband goes a little something like this:

  • Me: Oh, I like (insert cute name here)! How about that?
  • Husband: Hell no.
  • Me: But, why? Why don’t you like it?
  • Husband: I don’t know, I just don’t. I’ll know it when I hear it.
  • Me: Ok, well, are there any names that you like?
  • Husband: No, just keeping naming them and I’ll just tell you when I hear one I like.
  • Me: (use every ounce of energy I have left not to slap husband around)

So, I have been relying on reading pages upon pages of baby name books to get inspiration and these are the best ones that I have found.

Totally Not Biased

I’m totally NOT biased as to what I hope the gender of my unborn child will be. Healthy is really all that I’m asking for. With that being said, I keep finding myself browsing this lil adorableness and just maybe thinking that a mini Der might be pretty cool.

Melissa & Doug

If you have a kiddo you most likely have heard of this stuff, but if you don’t have a kiddo and you plan on having one…familiarize yourself peeps: Melissa & Doug.  This stuff is the bomb diggity.  Everything you see here was gifted to my son between the time he was born and now (18 months old) and all of these items have been a HUGE hit.  The most recent gift was #1 and let me tell you…even I want to play with it!  All of the food is velcro’d and ready for cutting.  When you cut, it actually makes a CRUNCHING sound.  SO COOL! I know, doesn’t take much for me huh?  The only item we DON’T have is the sushi set…I think I might need to gift that to mama.

Keep Calm, Keep Calm, Keep Calm

So everybody and their dog or cat for that matter has most likely seen the Keep Calm and Carry On posters, right?  If you haven’t, what bridge have you been living under?  Anywho, I like the motto because I’m the type of person that has been known to inch towards the stressed out, anxiety filled side.  What.  Here’s a few items that have the motto that you can incorporate into your more day to day life.  My personal fav is #3, the band-aids.

  1. Wisteria, Keep Calm Tote
  2. Paper Source, Keep Calm and Carry On Water Bottle
  3. Paper Source, Keep Calm and Carry On Bandages

Weiner Dog Nursery…WHAT? WHAT?

You got it folks. I’ll be shoving my love of all things weiner dog all up in my child’s face, whether boy or girl. Before you get skeptical, have a looksee here. This is gonna be one cute room for a bambino. These are the findings so far, but I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted on the DIY weiner room.

  1. Etsy, Barbeque the Dachshund– Already purchased and waiting to be framed on the wall. (we need to know a sex for a pretty pink or blue frame)
  2. One Step Ahead, Hanging Photoclip Mobile – Another recent purchase. Love that I can clip Luca, Zoe or Mia’s Head shots or switch it around at any time.
  3. Ebay, Black Dachshund Fabric – I’m debating on a crib skirt or bumper with some tiny doxies dancin around on it.
  4. Wooden Toddler Toys, Dachshund Dog Pet Lamp– To light up his/her day- only the way a weiner can!
  5. Etsy, Mod Dachshund Print– My lovely friend Court purchased this for me and it’s just as cute as it looks.
  6. Etsy, Keep Calm and Love Doxies– It’s a great motto for a new mom or for a new baby.
  7. Etsy, Paisley the Weiner Dog– Colorful and cute, but could easily be destroyed by the wrath of my actual weiners. MUST be kept out of reach.

Etsy Spotlight: Sweetness by Sarah Lamont

Court got us geared up for Easter this morning with all the goods for her son.  So I thought I’d continue the trend and do an Etsy Spotlight on Sweetness by Sarah Lamont.  For those of you with little munchkins you are probably going to want to jump on this STAT.  These are totally adorable bunny ear hats!  And modeling the one that we purchased for our first Easter last year is my little Jackrabbit!

iPhone Apps: Peekaboo Barn

Do you have a little tyke that runs everywhere at full speed on tip toes eyes wild jabbering the entire time arms stretched out looking to break anything remotely breakable within arms length distance who when you put him in the car for oh say maybe an hour long drive he begins to wail unconsollably at the 40 minute mark?  Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Just me? Come on…somebody?  Anyway, if any of you even remotely have a full speed ahead toddler like I do, man oh man do I have the iPhone app for you!

I would like to introduce you to Peekaboo Barn ladies and gents!  Peekaboo Barn is the bomb at keeping my kiddo’s attention.  It shows a barn door jiggling, they touch the screen and the doors to the barn open revealing an animal and then a little kid saying the name of the animal.  See below for demonstration:

As a side note, that’s my husband saying GOAT, my voice isn’t that deep.
