Gingham: Its Not Just For Picnics Anymore…

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but gingham print is a big trend for this spring. I’ve always found myself gravitating towards this print, even if it does make me feel like a picnic blanket or a country bumpkin sometimes.  Either way, I am all over this trend.

Holy Cowl

A cowl neckline is somewhat of a classic that’s been around for ages, but it seems to be stepping it up to center stage because I’m spotting a cowl every which way I look. I’m a fan and being universally flattering and feminine, you should be too. Although I am not ashamed to admit that as a child when my mother said cowl neck sweater I totally thought she said cow neck sweater. I never wanted a cow neck, so I wouldn’t dare wear whatever the hell she was talking about. I’ve learned me a few things since then.

I’ve Been Workin on the Railroad

The Young and the Laceless

I’m a huge fan of velcro or slip-on tennis shoes for my son because let’s face it…it’s hard enough to get shoes ON these days much less take the time to TIE them.  I mean come on. Anybody else have these troubles or is it just me and my speedy little munchkin?

We’ve been sporting these for a while and they have been fabulous but are getting a little ragged from daily wear.

Peasantly Surprised

You can ask anyone who sees me or my wardrobe on a regular basis and they will know that I gravitate towards the blousy type of top. I am not sure why, but I really do dig the look. I like it even when it’s not the cool thing to do. Anyway, I am in luck because peasant blouses are back in a big way with the 70s vibe for spring 2011. Check out all these cuties on my wishlist. GOOOOOD thing someone has a birthday coming up here shortly because #2  and #6 are really calling my name.

$50 Fridays: The Skinny Cargo

This idea of a skinny cargo sounded absolutely dreadful to me to be honest. Let me clarify: a skinny pant with large chunky pockets drawing attention to my already not so slender thighs, no thanks. Well, I decided to give them a whirl and by all accounts I was dead wrong. I did go up a size as to not look quite so stuffed sausage, but they are as cute as can be. The casual cool of a cargo pant with the sleekness of a skinny pant. I’m sold.

  3. Old Navy, Perfect Fit Tee
  4. Charlotte Russe, Single Gem Hinge Bracelet

Maternity 2.0

I wish people would tell you that you will essentially have 2 maternity wardrobes, and I’m currently on 2.0. I guess this may not be true for everyone, but I will tell you that I woke up one morning and over half of my maternity wear had turned to crop tops! This may be because I have a really long torso and it may also be because I am carrying this baby ALL out front…either way, I had an excuse to pick up these cute duds!

  2. Target, Maternity Long-Sleeve V-Neck Knit Top
  3. Gap, Ruffle henley placket

If I Was a Boy…

Sometimes I like having a husband that cares a lot about his clothing and how his hair looks and sometimes it sucks. Like when he makes 47 wardrobe changes before deciding on an outfit for a not even important event. That part sucks. What doesn’t suck is his love of shopping. It’s like having a life sized Ken doll of my very own. Every now and then he has to reel me back in when I try to take him over his own personal limit, but I tell him I would wear it… if I was a boy. Here are some of my very favorite boy things out there right now.
