Starting the New Year with Flare

There is a new silhouette on the denim scene for 2011 and I could not be more excited to see this oldie but goodie make a comeback. Flare leg jeans have a super 70’s vibe that I LOVE and to me they just fit on more body types than the last denim trend of the skinny variety. I can’t wait to slip on some of these with some platforms and big glasses while humming to the tune of Stayin’ Alive.

  1. Old Navy, Skinny Flared Trouser Jeans
  2. New York and Company, Super Flare Jeans

We Take This Shit Serious

Ok so there is a long standing tradition with a couple of the tipsy girls.

Its starts early.  I am talking 2:30 am early….It’s dark.  It’s so dark, that it’s black……None other than THE Black Friday.  Totally worth It.  HELLA GOOD TIMES AND DEALS.

Heres the line up for me and Mimi (my mom):

  • Kohls (3 am) -for Austin and others
  • Macy’s  (4:15 am)- for Mimi and Estee Lauder Holiday Gift Sets (10 of them , yes I said 10, we have a big family) – if you aren’t aware of this gift set, get on it now.  You’ll thank me later.
  • Target  (6 am)- for Ben and Aus and everyone who need electronics or awesomeness
  • Bath and Body Works (8 am) – for friends and fam and myself
  • Yankee Candles (9 am)- just for fun at this point (gotta keep that house smelling good through out the year)

So we start at about 2:30 am.  Fight all the really crazy peeps, cause you know, we are the sane ones.   Hit all these locales and we are done by about noon or so…..

Don’t hate.

Side note:  Just want to let all tipsy readers know we are celebrating a safe and happy holiday with our friends and family.  Please do the same.  Happy and Safe Holiday to all of our  readers!  See you Monday!!!!

Just Call Me Henley Harry

One area of fashion that could use a huge overhaul is nursing wear for new moms. It’s all either extremely expensive or extremely fugly. So, I’ve set out to locate regular clothing that is nursing friendly. One style that seems to be working great for me so far is a henley style top.  The buttons allow for easy access (haha) and I seem to be able to find these at local inexpensive retailers so I’m not shelling out my child’s college fund for mommy’s wardrobe.

I’d love suggestions from any of you would have been creative on this front with your wardrobe. What worked for you?

  1. Old Navy, Womens Thermal Henley
  2. Old Navy, Womens Hooded Rib Knit Henley
  3. Old Navy, Womens Ruffle Trim Henley
  4. Old Navy, Womens Lightweight Jersey Henley
  5. Walmart, Womens Long Sleeve Henley
  6. Target, Womens Henley
  7. American Eagle, Military Henley
  8. Walmart, Womens Long Sleeve Hooded Graphic Thermal Tee

A Change of Heart

I have never been a sneaker wearer in my pre-mom life. I love flats, sandals, boots, and flip flops for comfort, but you pretty much would never catch me in an athletic inspired shoe unless I was headed to work out. I’m finding that to be a thing of the past now that going out and about requires lugging a carseat, diaper bag and a trillion other objects along with me. Daily trips out of the house have become somewhat of a workout in themselves. So, here I am seeking out cute sneakers to add to my rotation. Y’all have any suggestions??

  1. Old Navy, Mesh Suede Trim Sneakers
  2. Macys, Womens Maya KP Sneakers
  3. Nordstrom, Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Sneaker
  4. Kohls, Converse Star Player Shoes
  5. Zappos, Reebok Lifestyle Classic Nylon
  6. Zappos, New Balance Classics
  7. Zappos, Osiris Hayou LT W
  8. Zappos, Saucony Originals

Ring a Ding Ding Ding Dong

I love cocktail jewelry, I would rather take the money I’d spend on one piece of nice jewelry and buy upteen million pieces of cocktail jewelry. The one exception being my wedding ring, of course. Which still doesn’t fit post baby,by the way. (omg so annoying) So, until I can squeeze my sausage finger back into my ring, I’ll be sporting some pretty cocktailness on my finger. Are y’all real jewelry or cocktail gals?

  1. Charlotte Russe, Assymetrical Geode Ring
  2. Charlotte Russe, Gold Armor Ring
  3. Old Navy, Womens Cocktail Ring
  4. Old Navy, Dome Cocktail Ring

Coats Galore!

There is one thing I have discovered will not work with my current ginormous breastfeeding chest… my winter coat from previous years. Sure, I can get it on, but it comes no where NEAR being able to close or button. So, on the hunt for a new coat I shall go! Here are some adorable options.

  1. Old Navy, Ruffle Collar Wool Blend Jacket
  2. Charlotte Russe, Retro Wool A Line Coat
  3. Old Navy, Wool Blend Prep Coat
  4. Forever21, Fleece Textured Coat
  5. Target, Hooded Wool Toggle Coat
  6. Target, Ribbed Neck Button Down Coat

Well, Hello Strangers

Ready or not… Im BACK! Back to the ole’ Tipsy grind. And I’d like to celebrate my return with two things:

A. This adorable picture of my sweet AJ.

B. This list of things that kept me sane/ allowed me to survive the last 4 weeks.

  1. Target, Full Sling Nursing Tank with Lace– These are like god’s gift to a nursing mom. Perfect thickness for extra support for the gals, long for us long bodied individuals and pop on a jacket or cardi and you don’t look quite like the frump you may feel like.
  2. Old Navy, Wide Leg Active Pants – I wore these home from the hospital, wear them as PJs at night and what the hay! Sometimes I keep them on all day long… I do have a newborn; I think I’m allowed.
  3. Amazon, Fisher Price I Glide Cradle and Swing– My lil gent loves this thing and will chill happily while mommy fixes dinner, does laundry or cat naps. Fisher Price, I can never thank you enough.
  4. Kohls, Carter’s Body Suits – My child is long and skinny and when he was swimming in all the newborn clothes we had, these babies were a life saver and fit him like a glove.
  5. Amazon, My Little Lamb Infant Seat– This goes anywhere I go and need a free set of hands. Like the bathroom, for instance. The vibrations and music set my little angel straight into slumber in most cases and allow mom to get a quick bathroom break or shower in. Plus, it’s so very soft and cozy. I wish they made one in my size.
  6. Amazon, Maxwell House International Cafe’ Suisse Mocha– I do not ever drink coffee or coffee related drinks. EVER. My mother brought this over to my house for her own personal enjoyment when she comes to visit the baby since I’m a coffee-less house. I tried it once and I’ve been like a crack addict over this stuff ever since. Good lawdy, I’m hooked.

Cozy On Up

I love me a good sweater.  When I think of winter I definitely think, t-shirt, jeans and a good cozy sweater.  These are just a few that I would love to add to my collection.

  1. Old Navy, Cropped Toggle Jet Sweater Cape
  2. Chadwicks, Convertible Cable Cardigan
  3. Target, Mossimo Ribbed Collar Sweater Vest
  4. Garnet Hill, Empire Seam Cotton/Cashmere Cardigan
  5. Chadwicks, Printed Cardigan
  6. Garnet Hill, Ruffle Trimmed Swing Cardigan
  7. Old Navy, Short Sleeved Jet Sweater Capes
