iPhone Apps: Livestrong

The other day I was looking for some sort of calorie tracker app because my trainer was asking me to provide him with a food diary of my week.  Because I’m lazy and all and don’t want to write all that crap out with a pen/paper I thought it would be easy to use my handy dandy iPhone.  I hit the jackpot with the Livestrong app.  I entered my basic height/weight info and it guided me towards what my daily calories should be.  Upon entering the food I ate throughout the day I found that it had almost everything I ate in its little search engine including the specific HEB cheese slices I put in my pita sandwich at lunch.  On the days I workout I can enter in my activity for calories burned.  After my week of food diary-ing was up, I logged into my Livestrong account online and could print out my food diary and hand it over to my trainer.  Upon review he told me he could see a few problems right off the bat…hmmm wonder if it was those chewy Sweetarts from last Sunday.  Damn you leftover Easter candy!  I’m definitely going to make some adjustments and keep going with the app, it’s sort of addicting!

As a side note, when searching for exercise activities, while it does have a plethora of activities to choose from “Running after 18 month old child” was not an option.

Easter Bunny is Coming to Town

So, Easter is always a neat time of the year.  Church, hidden plastic eggs filled with money, and family.  That all makes sense right?

Seriously though, I love scoping out goodies for my son, Austin’s, basket.  Check it out (rated: 7-year-old boy).

  1. Pocket Bunny– handmade and adorable.  Love it.
  2. Bunny Crayons – I love seeing something as simple as crayons in a shape like a bunny to celebrate the day.
  3. Soccer Easter Basket – for my little future Pelé.
  4. Travel Battelship – these types of things are great for going on trips, around the house with out the clutter and just to have when he spends the night at a friends.  Austin has really gotten into Risk lately.  Anyone seen an updated or travel version of Risk?
  5. Peeps – ‘nough said.
  6. Venus Fly Trap Kit – has anyone been watching the new series on the Discovery Channel, Life?  Well, its great, Aus and I really love watching it together and it makes it totally rational to give my son a Venus Fly Trap for Easter.
  7. Indoor Boomerang – I always kick myself in the ass for toys like this.  But, an indoor boomerang?  Pretty sure we need to test it just to make sure it WON’T break things.
  8. Giant LED Flashlight – Aus has a million flashlights, but the LED and the size makes this one even cooler.

iPhone Apps: Grocery iQ

A few weeks ago Sarah posted on whether or not she should get the iPhone or a Blackberry Bold.  I had been playing with the idea of switching from a Blackberry over to the iPhone myself.  My husband had already made that transition and was LOVING it.  So of course all your comments on the iPhone pretty much sealed the deal for me in terms of the iPhone.  Then I received one for Valentine’s Day!!  I thought I’d post some apps that are making my life a ton easier.

Grocery iQ….DUDE this thing is crazy cool and I know I haven’t even used all the features.  On a basic level it’s just your regular shopping list.  However it does make things easier by grouping everything by the store aisles.  You can hook up your savings card to it for coupons…I haven’t gotten around to doing that just yet.  The BOMB thing about this app? My husband and I both have this installed on our respective iPhones and you can share one list.  So when he adds something, it shows up for me and vice versa…so whoever is out and about and able to pick something up at the grocery store they have the main list and can check the item off and it updates it for the other one.  SO TOTALLY COOL.  I know I sound super geeky…sorry, but I kinda am.

Device to Change your Skins LIFE

My beautiful, ever so youthful, Aunt has introduced all the women in my immediate family to this handy device: The Clarisonic. It all started when my Mother asked her big sister what her skin-care regimen was, (Seriously, my Aunt has the complexion that every woman hopes to have when they’re 50) and out popped this handy device! At first I was skeptical…I mean…it’s $150 and can it really make THAT big of a difference….?

Here’s the proof:

Before you run out and invest your hard earned $$$ in this thing, I would suggest you try one of the cheaper knock-offs, which is what I did.

I fell in LOVE with the way the BeautiControl buffer made my face feel…so fresh, sooooo clean!

A couple weeks ago I was gifted with the ACTUAL Clarisonic and I will testify that I see a HUGE difference in the way my skin feels and looks without make-up. I’m hooked, and will never look back!!!

Animal House!

Call me crazy (or look at me like I’ve lost my mind as my husband did when I told him), but I long to have all of these little critters all up in my kitchen!

  1. Pier One, Woodpecker Scissors
  2. Pier One, Hippo Chip Clip
  3. Pier One, Tucan Can Opener
  4. Pier One, Cow Creamer
  5. Pier One, Elephant Tea Pot
  6. Pier One, Octopus Dish Scrubbers

Opinions WANTED

Blackberry Bold vs. iPhone

So, my husband got an iPhone circa 2008 and I thought it was the most RIDICULOUS purchase ever. However, now that everyone, including my mother, has one, I’m starting to reconsider its coolness factor. The only thing I’m concerned about is the emailing capabilities and the touch keypad on the iPhone, which, I’m told, I will get used to, but the thing is that I really do use my blackberry for daily business emailing.

I’m going to get a new phone within the next two weeks and I’m torn between these two phones. Remember, this phone will be used a lot for business.

What phone will be best for my needs?

(All thoughts and opinions greatly appreciated!)

Stuff That Stocking Girly Style!

Here are a few ideas for stocking stuffers of the girly kind ala ak! I think this is the perfect combo of girly meets geeky meets OCD if I do say so myself. Can I get a WHAT WHAT?!

  1. Levenger, Pocquettes Zipped Earbud Pouch Keychain – This is SO cool, I mean the little thing that fits inside to keep the earbuds from tangling up–can you say OCD much?
  2. Bagel Creations Etsy Shop, Adjustable Coffee Cozy-Bright – I purchased one of these a while back for a keno gift and also bought one for myself and they are awesome and very chic!
  3. Chia’sso, Pin Up Frames – OMG you know how we feel about polaroids around these parts and I think they are just too cute to pass up.
  4. Cambria Cove, iPouch Wallet by knomo-fuschia – Something like this is perfect for a mom who is still carrying a diaper bag..you can put all important things in this and just throw it in the diaper bag when you head out.  Also, its perfect for those running out for a quick trip type of situations and you don’t want to haul the whole kitchen sink you have in your regular size purse–essentials only.
  5. JennaDesigns Etsy Shop, Travel or Pocket Tissue Holder/Cozy – Ditto in regards to keno as stated above, purchased one for myself as well.  The great thing about this is that when you are rummaging around in your purse, the bright fabric makes it easier to find.
  6. Anne Taintor, She Was One Cocktail Away From Proving His Mother Right Magnet – I can’t tell you how funny I think this is as well as everything on this site.
  7. Anthropologie, Smith’s Rosebud Salve – This stuff is fab as a lip balm, for minor cuts, for dry skin, for a mini mani and the list goes on and on.  And the smell of it is divine.
  8. Brookstone, My Life Digitial Photo Keychain – I love being able to just upload some pics and run out the door…it’s too hard to have printed pics in an envelope to show off.
  9. Crafts2Cherish Etsy Shop, Black Beret with Red Wet Felted Flower – In Houston, when it’s cold for that one day a year, this would be perfecto!

Christmas Wishlist: CR Edition

So a few of these are completely outrageous, because I can’t imagine spending the $.  But in a world where money didn’t matter, here is a list of the things I want to see under my tree.

  1. Z Gallerie Lithe Vases ($14.95 – $18.95) – simple, yet intricate.  Would be perfect for my bamboo!
  2. Hello Kitty Ceramic Watches ($995 – 2900) – yes, I am 29 and 3/4’s and am an admitted Hello Kitty junkie.  These watches are too cute.
  3. Urban Outfitters Head Band ($18.00) – not even sure this would look good on me, just seems really unique and funky, like me.
  4. Yellow Strauss Toms (54.00) – fun and funky.
  5. Tyler Diva Scented Candle ($17.95) – I am just obsessed with these candles and this scent.
  6. Ikea Red Clock ($29.99) – love love love this cute little ticker.
  7. Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave ($79.99) – this is a want, definitely not a need.  But if I could pick any out there, this wireless mouse and keyboard surely have my vote.
  8. Rotating Spheres Arc Floor Lamp ($79.99) – I am certain this would complete my house’s transformation to an Asian wannabe home.
  9. Pottery Barn Fruitwood Pillar Holders ($22.99) – too cute, very simple.  I love candles and am sure I would be able to find some which would a nice reason to have these around.
  10. Ivy Mirror and ID Case ($16.00) – did I also ever mention that I am notorious for constantly misplacing my ID, debit card, keys, mind, and sanity.  Think this will help???
  11. Puma Hoodie ($69.00) – did I ever mention I am obsessed with Hoodies?  Any of the Tipsy girls can attest to this.  I am convinced this is the perfect hoodie for me.
  12. Oh and did I mention this little guy (priceless) – no comment :).
