Ancient Cookie Cutters

I stumbled across these Hebrew alphabet cookie cutters while trying to find my (always hard to shop for has everything) Aunt, something for Christmas. Although we’re not Jewish, my Aunt likes everyday things that are a little off the beaten path, and the Hebrew language is rooted in so many facets of our culture…so if anyone of your list is a) hard to buy for and b) remotely spiritual, these could be the perfect gift!

Holiday Gift Guides: 8 Year Old Boys

Have an 8 year old boy?  Buying for an 8 year old boy?  Just want to know what the hell they are droolin’ over this year?  I have an IN with my special little man, Austin, and this is his 9th Christmas and sure to be kick ass.

  1. Moon Shoes – remember these babies?  Theeeiiirrr back and on Aus’ Christmas list.  I’m  just worried for when he asks mommy to give these a go.
  2. Basketball goal – great for the active boy, but portable, so can be stored, moved, or taken into the middle of the cul-de-sac when the boys really want to get schooled by mommy.
  3. DSI XL Special Edition – yes, another one.  And it haasss to be the red one, its for the 25th anniversary of the nintendo Gameboy/DS console.  I think we can all remember what fun these were no matter how old we were.
  4. iPod Touch – This was on Aus’ list, but not making the cut just yet.  We opted for the DSI XL for a little bit longer, but these are really really hot right now.
  5. BopIt Bounce – harder and possibly more annoying than the original BopIt.  Dreams really do come true!
  6. College Snuggie – Aus’ has really gotten into collegiate sports.  The name of the game around this house in the Texas Longhorns (even though their football is less than stellar right now).  Aus will not be a fair weather fan though and I think this is the perfect accessory for someone that devoted.
  7. NFL Jersey (Andre Johnson) – adding to the obsession with football players and sports in general.  This time the Houston Texans.  A jersey of a little boy’s fav team is a shoe-in for a gift.
  8. Original Adidas HiTop – Aus is very colorful inside and out and has had his eye on these.  I love their throw back to the 80’s feel and can hear my mom saying “What’s old is new” in my head.  So true.

It’s going to be one very merry Christmas around here!

Letters + Candles = Awesome

Ran across these beauts while doing my general, not going to buy one single item I’m looking at browsing sesh.  I think these would be a perfect gift for a wedding shower, a couples first Christmas or just a gift to yourself for being so badass.

Go Texan

You know the saying, “Go Local”. That’s a term that I’ve been trying more and more to incorporate into my life. Stopping at local farmers markets, buying locally-constructed furniture, etc. My BFF works for the Texas Department of Agriculture, and this department has started a great movement called Go Texan, where local, Texas-made, companies can come together and consumers can easily identify them. Go Texan has put together a great Holiday Gift Guide 2010  that you should check out for ideas. (The link is a PDF that may take a couple minutes to open)

Do you try to “Go Local” in your state?

Stocking Stuffers ala RH

Restoration Hardware is one of my go to stores. Although pricey, the quality of their products is AMAZING. I also love this store around Christmas time because they manage to stock their shelves with random-ass stuff that make fabulous stocking stuffers. Here are some of my faves this season:

  1. Disposable Flask
  2. Marshmallow Roasters
  3. Handyman in your Pocket
  4. Golf Ball Personalizer
  5. Cell Phone Charging Platform
  6. Pocket IQ Cards
  7. Great Lines from Great Movies Cards

Lolita

Lolita glasses are probably the coolest thing since sliced bread. I started receiving the martini glasses as gifts awhile back, and once I was introduced to the rest of the Lolita line, I have have given them as gifts myself! They make great hostess gifts, Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, engagement gifts…the list goes on, and on, and on…oh yeah, and each Lolita glass comes with a cool cocktail recipe written on the bottom, how cool is that?

  1. Wicked Witch the 3rd
  2. Dirty Martini
  3. Wedding Champagne Set: (I gave these to Der and her hubby when they got engaged…aren’t they cute!?!?!)
  4. Beer Belly Pilsner Glass: (I think I need to start buying these pilsner glasses for my house!)
  5. 5 o’clock Somewhere Shot Glass: (These are great little gifts for guys. Who doesn’t love a shot glass?)

Birthday Wishlist

There are so many things in this world that I would love to have but a) will never buy for myself, and b) could not afford right now even if I did want to buy them. That, my friends, is the beauty of a birthday, and mine is right around the corner. Here are some items that are on my birthday wish list this year…

  1. Macy’s,  Keurig B60 Coffee Maker, Single Serve : This might be one of the greatest kitchen appliance I have ever used. For anybody who drinks a cup or 2 of coffee every day but not a whole pot, this is the perfect gift. No more cleaning a coffee pot. Ever again.
  2. Overstock.com, KitchenAid 5 Speed Blender : Yes I want a blender for my birthday. And yes, it has to be this color.
  3. Victoria’s Secret, Motorcycle Jacket : I love this jacket. Every time I get a Victoria’s Secret catalog in the mail I drool over it.
  4. Old Navy, Women’s Sliver Wedge Boots: I really want some tall, flat boots in this camel color for the fall, and these are super cute without a super high price tag.
  5. Amazon, Mikasa Cheers Too 16-ounce White Wine Glasses :  I got the original Mikasa Cheers white wine glasses as a graduation gift and would love to have the full set.
  6. Target, Sex and the City 2 I loved the show and I love this movie. It was even better than the last one. I have the entire series on DVD as well as the first movie, so I need to complete my collection 🙂
  7. Amazon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse : Although it is not available yet, I am holding out hope it will be here by my birthday. I am a Twi-hard, what can I say.
  8. Target, Tom Tom XL 340T GPS : I will be the first to admit that my sense of direction sucks. When I eventually leave the small college town I currently live in, a GPS for my car will be a must have.
  9. Reebok,  RunTone Action Shoes : I just recently started running and I really want a pair of these shoes.  Who doesn’t want their butt to look better?
  10. Direct From Mexico, Large Thick Talavera Cross : a) I love all things Mexican (especially food and decor), and b) I collect crosses

Oh and one more thing…

Chocolate Brown Wiener Dog

A brother or sister for Lily 🙂

Etsy Spotlight: Jenni 20

My BFF and Tipsy reader recently introduced me to Jenni 20 and I must admit, not only did I fall in love, but I automatically added this shop as one of my faves!

I’m a chronic traveler, even if it’s just across the state, and I’m always on the hunt for cute travel stuff. I think I’m going to snag a couple shoe bags and a laundry bag for myself…hmmm…I wonder who I could give these as gifts to!?!?
