Holy Sequin I Need a Party to Attend

Every which way you turn your pretty little head there are sequins galore on tops, cardigans, skirts, you name it. I have one problem and that is no where to wear them. I am determined to find a way to work any or all of these into my holiday wardrobe even if it means partying with a 2 month old while daddy’s at work. Spit up be damned!

Movies for the Season

These are movies I try not to miss during the holidays…first choice being A Christmas Story.  Though I have several parts of this movie that I find very memorable, for some reason I always think about the dogs coming in and ripping apart that turkey which leads to them eating Christmas dinner at the Chinese restaurant.

What is your favorite holiday movie and why?

  1. Amazon, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  2. Amazon, A Christmas Story
  3. Amazon, It’s a Wonderful Life
  4. Amazon, Elf

Mad Platter

Maybe I can eat off a paper plate any other time of the year, but damn it we will be fancy pants for the holidays. Do you guys fancy it up for the holidays or go disposable for clean up with the quickness?

We Take This Shit Serious

Ok so there is a long standing tradition with a couple of the tipsy girls.

Its starts early.  I am talking 2:30 am early….It’s dark.  It’s so dark, that it’s black……None other than THE Black Friday.  Totally worth It.  HELLA GOOD TIMES AND DEALS.

Heres the line up for me and Mimi (my mom):

  • Kohls (3 am) -for Austin and others
  • Macy’s  (4:15 am)- for Mimi and Estee Lauder Holiday Gift Sets (10 of them , yes I said 10, we have a big family) – if you aren’t aware of this gift set, get on it now.  You’ll thank me later.
  • Target  (6 am)- for Ben and Aus and everyone who need electronics or awesomeness
  • Bath and Body Works (8 am) – for friends and fam and myself
  • Yankee Candles (9 am)- just for fun at this point (gotta keep that house smelling good through out the year)

So we start at about 2:30 am.  Fight all the really crazy peeps, cause you know, we are the sane ones.   Hit all these locales and we are done by about noon or so…..

Don’t hate.

Side note:  Just want to let all tipsy readers know we are celebrating a safe and happy holiday with our friends and family.  Please do the same.  Happy and Safe Holiday to all of our  readers!  See you Monday!!!!

Thanksgiving Table Ideas

If you are having Thanksgiving at your house and want to spruce up your table with a centerpiece, Martha Stewart has some great ideas on her site.  Most of these would be super duper easy to throw together.  The easiest being, fall leaves placed in hurricanes.  Very easy, very modern.  Or just go rummage through the produce section and buy everything orange you see in sight–also another super fun idea.  We never carved our pumpkin at Halloween, so we could definitely gut it and put some flowers in there…  It doesn’t take much to pretty things up!  What are you doing on your table this year?

Tipsy Favs: Thanksgiving Sides

We definitely like us some food around here.  These are the sides that wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without them.

  1. AK-Broccoli Rice Casserole-When I think about Thanksgiving this is the side that I think of: Broccoli Rice Casserole.  If this side is not made during Thanksgiving, it’s just not Thanksgiving to me.  I could seriously eat my weight in this stuff and I am always first in line to take leftovers home.  I’ve had this before made with Jalapeno Cheese Whiz and OMG…SO GOOD.  However I do believe they discontinued Jalapeno Cheese Whiz.  I’m still pissed.
  2. Der-Mashed Potatoes-Please don’t hate, but I’m not in LOOVE with thanksgiving food. I don’t like turkey unless it’s on a sammich and all the other stuff I could honeslty take or leave. But I’m a sucker for some creamy mashed taters on any occasion!
  3. Court-Cornbread Dressing-A few things about this dish before I tell you why its my own fav.  1.  Cornbread dressing is where its at.  Its dressing, not stuffing because it never goes IN the turkey.  And cornbread, first fried in a cast iron skillet and baked in the oven until golden brown is the way to go.  2.  This is closest recipe I could find online to my mom’s, Mimi’s, superawesometopsecret recipe.  3.  I opt out on the onions.  No can do on that.  Now that you know all the rules, please know that this is my ultimate side for Thanksgiving and the holiday season in general.  I can’t do with out it and am slowly learning from Mimi the actual art that makes this dish so good that I eat myself silly each year.
  4. Sarah-Green Bean Casserole-Green Bean Casserole is a MUST for me. I have loved this stuff for as long as I can remember, and, unfortunately, my in-laws don’t agree that this is a Thanksgiving staple. However, when we do spend the holiday with them, I always make and bring my own because, you know, it’s not Thanksgiving without green bean casserole…and it’s ALWAYS gone at the end of the meal…seems to me like this SHOULD be their new staple since it’s obviously a hit!

What food is it that makes your holiday?

A Photo Op

I can’t remember the last time I sent out Christmas cards…but I’m definitely doing it this year.  I’m getting a pro to shoot some pics of my kiddo so I can send some cards out wishing everyone a great holiday season.  I’m definitely cutting it close…I’ll have to decide on a pic of my little guy and then decide on a card and then get them out before oh you know, CHRISTMAS.

All of these are from Tiny Prints and are definitely on my short list.  Where do you get cards from?

Dish Duty

I’m not exactly sure why, but I like festive dish towels in my kitchen. I don’t always go ALL  OUT for holidays, but I do like to see those little decorative towels hanging there near my stove and sink. Here are some cute towels that could adorn my kitchen this year. They would make cute little gifts too.

  1. Crate and Barrel, Joy Dish Towel
  2. Amazon, Tag Whimsy Santa Dish Towels
  3. Crate and Barrel, Berries and Birds Dish Towel
  4. Amazon, Bright Christmas Tea Towel
  5. World Market, Reindeer Towels

Letters + Candles = Awesome

Ran across these beauts while doing my general, not going to buy one single item I’m looking at browsing sesh.  I think these would be a perfect gift for a wedding shower, a couples first Christmas or just a gift to yourself for being so badass.

Stocking Up on Stockings

Since the new addition of our son, we are short a stocking for our mantle. I surely can’t have stockings that do not all go together, so I’ve been on the hunt for some new stockings for our fam. Now I just have to decide: do I want fun and whimsical or traditional.. decisions, decisions. Do y’all have a go to place for holiday decor purchases?

  2. Target, Snowflake Holiday Stocking in Red/Gray
  3. Crate and Barrel, Fiona Red Multi Stocking
  4. Pottery Barn Kids, Red and White Stripe Fair Isle Stocking
