The Tipsy Wedding Project: Centerpieces

  1. AK-I love the idea of the pumpkins being part of the centerpiece since it’s fall.  I’d probably incorporate less white flowers and more vivid fall oranges and burgundy.
  2. Sarah-I like the idea of using these two centerpieces and alternating them among tables. The simplicity of the potted marigolds add to the rustic feel of Christen’s wedding and they will be VERY budget-friendly in October. I also fell in love with the flowers in the orange vase because a) it will add just a slight touch of modern to the rustic charm of the marigolds and b) the rosemary that is also used in this arrangement is a sign of remembrance that could be used to honor the loved ones that could not be with you on your special day! (I found the thought about the rosemeary on theknot.com, but it was totally worth sharing!)
  3. Court-My idea for the centerpieces is heavily influenced by the centerpiece/florals at Der’s wedding.  I love the mixture of fruit and floral.  You can work in whatever flowers you choose at the top or the base and include whole oranges or slices.  I think its comes off so elegant and FUN.
  4. Der-I love the rich colors in this centerpiece and unique combo of flowers. I think it would be super sweet to add some oranges or orange slices in this vase too.

The Tipsy Wedding Project: Ring Bearer

Today we are going to cover the ring bearer…I thought I’d share a little of what Christen was looking for, which is something unique and not a normal ring bearer pillow.

My supremely awesome 4 year old brother, Evan, is our ring bearer.  He is very excited for the wedding and said he watched a cartoon where “a boy was in a wedding and I saw him carry the rings so I know what to do!”  I love that kid SO MUCH.  Anyway, I’ve never been a huge fan of the pillow for the rings.  Maybe it’s because, while Evan is a pretty sensitive soul, he’s a rough and tumble boy who plays the drums (with his shirt off, natch) so having him carry the rings on a pillow just doesn’t seem natural.  Then again, it’s not like anyone walks around with rings on pillows.  Any alternate ideas?  I’ve been cruising wedding sites looking for something and am coming up empty.

So here goes…these are our suggestions:

  1. Court-Take a small wooden box, cover with orange flowers.  You can also put green moss on the inside for a little extra touch.
  2. Sarah-I LOVE this. It’s not as cheesy as a pillow and it’s something the bride and groom can keep forever!
  3. AK-A pillow made from moss with a fall leaf and some twine–LOVE IT!
  4. Der-I’m kind of in love with this ring bearer pillow. It would actually be really easy to make yourself and look really gorgeous in rich fall oranges and browns instead of blue.

The Tipsy Wedding Project: Bride’s Shoes

Today’s installment of The Tipsy Wedding Project is Christen’s shoes. While we know what Christen’s dress looks like, she would rather we didn’t post it here because a certain person she is going to marry has been following along and we don’t want to ruin it for him. (I’m talking to you Ed). So anyway, here are our recommendations for Christen and a few for Ed himself. See any trends? 🙂

  1. AK-My inspiration came from the fact that we found out Christen loves the color orange, that she is having a fall wedding and the fact that Der did this shoe/sock idea for her wedding and it was UH-DOOR-UH-BULL. So this is the vision. Here is my suggestion (dyeing orange obvs)
  2. Sarah-I LOVE the idea of having a fun, yet classy, shoe underneath the traditional wedding attire. Since orange is her favorite color, I thought these were both perfect, affordable, AND would be go great with the fall wedding colors! (I also wouldn’t be opposed to Christen’s hubby to-be to wear some cool orange socks…Der did this at her wedding and it made for an awesome photo op…just sayin’…)
  3. Der-These are cute and orange and would totally be reusable later on with a par-TAY dress! I did apple green shoes under my wedding dress, but they were dyed and therefore unable to be worn in wet conditions.. BOO!!  and her groom could wear these.
  4. Court-I love these shoes.  Her dress, which has lace is beautiful, but I didnt want to much frill on the shoes. I think these peep toes are a great accent, plus they are navy which satisfies two things–her man to be fav color and her something blue requirement.

The Tipsy Wedding Project: Boutonnieres

Next up, boutonnieres! Let’s pick a little something for Ed and the other men in this shindig.

  1. Der-This is simple and not too feminine, plus I frickin LOVE that tie!
  2. Sarah-I LOVE these boutonnieres for the sheer uniqueness of them. I also think they will tie into the rustic fall theme for this wedding VERY nicely! (These boutonnieres are made of fiddlehead fern, bamboo shoots, kumquats, and eucalyptus and poppy seedpods.)
  3. Court-Loves these.  They are fun and whimsical.  Nothing too stuffy for the groom, give him a break–he’s getting HITCHED! Rosenowfloral does custom and vintage.  Can you beat it?
  4. AK-Very simple, mini calla to tie in the bride’s bouquet with a little bit of a twist of that twine stuff or whatever it is.  LOVE IT.

The Tipsy Wedding Project: Shoes

Next up on the Tipsy Wedding Project front is SHOES!  Bridesmaid shoes that is… Something each of us hold near and dear.   Christen is having two maids of honor and they are wearing two different dresses, both in Truffle.  Here is one.  Here is the other.  So here goes with our shoe suggestions….

  1. Sarah-I would choose either the yellow or red shoe to wear with the bridesmaids dresses. These are fun, sassy, and tie into the fall colors nicely.
  2. Court-I love Nina shoes.  I go to them for almost every semi formal/formal occasion as I feel they make an elegant statement but are simple enough you can re-use if you wanted. These peep toe with the bow aren’t over the top, but will give a fun touch to each of the maids dresses.   I would go for the GOLD color, literally, but she mentioned her hubby to be loved navy.  Wouldn’t that be a cute combo of color?  The navy shoes?
  3. Der-I wore these exact same shoes (in cosmic dust) to my rehearsal dinner and let me tell you… the most comfortable shoes EVER. I could literally run a 5k in these heels. The price tag isn’t too bad and they are cute too! I clipped on a hair flower to the center of the toes for extra flair, so that could be an option as well.
  4. AK-I’m going to say go with a basic brown and then play up your fall colors in the jewelry the girls wear but we’ll get to the jewelry in a later post.

Tell us your fav!

Hump Day Happy Hour Meets The Tipsy Wedding Project

The Tipsy Wedding Project with a twist so to speak. For today’s Hump Day Happy Hour we are going to help Christen decide on a signature drink for her wedding. She wants something vodka based, so all the Tipsy girls went in search of the perfect drink for the perfect wedding!

  1. Court-The 8 oz Twister: 2 oz Vodka, 2 oz Fresh Lime Juice, 2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice, 2 oz Pure Grape Juice. I think this could be made on a large scale, since all parts are equal and just could pour in the highball glasses and BAM, Twisted.
  2. Der-Cranapple Martini: 1 oz vodka, 1.5 oz. apple pucker and a splash of cranberry juice. Both of those fruits make me think of fall and make me think this drink is probably delish. If I wasn’t with child, I’d be making one right now.
  3. Sarah-Custom Drink, Name TBD: 1 oz. Vodka, 1.5 oz. Pomegranate Juice, 1 tsp elderflower liqueur, 1 splash of champagne, and garnish with an inexpensive fall flower that your florist can suggest for you.
  4. AK-“Ed’s Last Name”-tini: 1 Shot Vodka, 1 Shot of Orange Juice, 1 Shot of Apple Juice, 1 Splash of Cranberry Juice. Garnish with cranberries.

The Tipsy Wedding Project: Invites

Next up in trying to help Christen design her October 2010 wedding are the invitations. The invites are CRUCIAL, as they are the first glimpse your guests will get at the fabulousness that is your big day! (What’s funny is that all of us Tipsy gals, individually, gravitated to Wedding Paper Divas for our picks. All the invites you see can be customized to ANY color scheme that Christen wants!)

  1. Sarah-I love this invite because it’s simple with a touch of modern romance!
  2. Der-I like this invite because I happen to have found out that orange is Christen’s favorite color this week! I also like that this is simple and elegant, but unusual. No one has orange flowers on their wedding invitations…even more reason for Christen to DO IT!!!
  3. Court-I picked this invite because its got some traditional components, it has a classic feeling but has a modern touch with the blooming trees across the top. I think the Autumn orange fits perfectly with her colors/flowers/theme and the price of the invitations is more on the conservative side.
  4. AK-I like this invite for two reasons…you can incorporate the chocolate color into the invite and I think it is sorta fancy schmancy without being too stuffy. I absolutely love having the names be a cursive and the rest not. Like, love love!

Tipsy readers…tell us which one is your favorite!

The Tipsy Wedding Project: Bouquets

We are going to be running a series here over the next few weeks.  It’s called The Tipsy Wedding Project aka help Christen design her wedding.  Christen is an avid Tipsy Society reader and we could not say no when she asked for a little assistance in planning her October 2010 nuptials.  So each week us Tipsy gals will be throwing some suggestions her way and letting YOU the readers vote on WHAT SHOULD CHRISTEN PICK!  So here goes…this week is all about bouquets!!

  1. Der-I’m in LOVE with this fall bouquet!  I think this bouquet ties in the truffle color that she has picked for her attendants and it adds pops of orange and green and even some pink. I love the rustic looking shape of this bouquet and I think this could easily transcend into a larger scale table arrangement… OR to save money just have the bride and all the maids place their bouquets in beautiful vases on all the tables.
  2. Court-I’m going to keep things simple with this bouquet so that the orange color and single flower type make things pop even more.
  3. AK-This bouquet is so RICH in color and I believe that’s what Christen is going for.  This combines roses, lilies (calla), and a tiny bit of hydrangea.  I love the berries and seeded eucalyptus which can be incorporated into some badass boutonnieres when we get to those.
  4. Sarah-I love the idea of the bridal bouquet being different than her bridesmaids, so this is what I came up with for the bridesmaids and for the bride, it combines both the colors, and flowers, she’s looking for, and, since both bouquets are the same shape, they tie together nicely. (I’m also in LOVE with the copper wire that’s wrapped around the bridesmaids bouquets!)

So Tipsy readers…here’s your chance…Which one should Christen pick?

Feeling Horizontal?

Hey now, get your minds out of the gutter!  I’m talking about wine bags!  I have never in my life seen one of these horizontal wine bags and I’m LOVING, I repeat, LOVING them!

Round Top Recap

Late last week we told yall about how we were going to Round Top, Texas for the big Antique/Craft Show thingamabob that we go to every year.  We had a blast and thought we’d share some pics from the day.  There were tons of cute things and we got to try Miranda Lambert wine, of which we all agree that Kerosene was the best (except for Der who stuck with water and took our word for it).  Miranda Lambert’s wine was being sold by her very own dad who chatted with us for a bit–really nice guy!  While we were wining it up, Der found some cute wooden letter initials for the impending Der baby.  One our way home  we decided to stop for a pic in the bluebonnets and a barb wired fence attacked me.
